Here is my experience with Cleartrip.


Their web site is neat and intutive, so I thought let me use it this time for booking.


When I checked the rates at AirDeccan site and Cleartrip, the Cleartrip price for the same flight was 200 Rupees less than Air deccan site. More reason to use Cleartrip.


I enter all the details and submit:


An error page flashes saying The booking failed. I have to call customer service.


I login again and check the status. It said I had a failed booking and they will "unblock" my money(whatever that means) within 15 days. Ok, I decided to call customer service and dial.


After a few button presseing, a customer service rep, Piyush attends the call. He was polite. I explain the problem. He checks at his side.(His machine was slower than my machine which is 7 years old.:-().  First thing he tells is that I have to call Air Deccan! I refuse to do that point blank. He tries to justify. My temperature raises. I told that their site has charged my card and they have to resolve the issue. He tries to explain how it works or how the money was actually charged ny AirDeccan. I dont bulge. I ask for his Supervisor. He puts me on hold and comes back after a few minutes. He tells me that He would talk to Air Deccan and call me back within 10 minutes.


To my pleasant suprise, he calls back in 5 minutes.  He gives me an an excuse of a cock-and-bull story(why so, explained below) of not being able to book the ticket because it is a low priced ticket and demand is more etc. He gives me an option to call Air Deccan from time to time to "confirm" the ticket from hold to confirmed. Or another option for refund the money. I grab the option of refunding the money. My money would be refunded in 48 hours. 48 hours not yet completed. I should say he was polite all the time. But I guess he had no clue about how to serve customers.


I go to Air Deccan site and book the exact same flight. Everything goes fine. I dont know what is his story about no tickets being available.


Moral of the experience: Ask for Supervisor if you dont get proffessional service from the first line Customer Service rep.
