I used to use Clairol Herbal Essences Extra Body Shampoo all the time as it smelled delightful and always seemed to give my hair that extra lift. The shampoo is designed for fine/limp hair and worked well for my needs. Actually, this shampoo was my companion throughout college and whenever I smell its unique herbal blend, it reminds me of dormitory days.
Why am I referring to this product as an old friend? Well, mainly for the fact that I don't use it anymore. The biggest reason for this is that my stylist began to notice that my hair had buildup and this she told me was due to wax in certain shampoos. So, although I experienced the lift after a shampooing with this product, over time what it was really doing was weighing my hair down.
For awhile, I'd use a clarifying shampoo once a week or so and use this product the rest of the time. However, after a news segment claiming many shampoos with DEA could be cancer-causing, I became very selective with what shampoos I used. I cannot remember for certain whether this shampoo contains DEA or MEA, but either way I have moved on to salon shampoos almost exclusively.
There are positives with Clairol Herbal Essences Extra Body Shampoo. The ingredients are over 99% natural and plant-derived. The label of this product reads ''With Marigold Flowers, Angelica, and Thyme in Mountain Spring Water''. This product is recommended with Clairol Herbal Essences Light Conditioner for best results.
This shampoo is affordable and I would recommend it if you are on a budget but want great-smelling, fuller hair. Just remember to occasionally use a clarifying shampoo to battle buildup.
I haven't used any other versions of this product but can say that the body wash is also pleasing, especially in scent. You may want to check out the Beauty Garden online at https://herbalessences.com/garden.asp for more information on the Herbal Essences line and other Clairol products.
