''Aamche Pune''i.e how a Punekar refer to his city, Pune. The city with great history attached to it and been quite popular among the masses for its History, Educational Institutions, the people and their attitude, and not to forgot one of the growing IT hub of the country.

The growth of the Pune as a city is quite rapid and inorganic in past few years thanks to once again the growth of city related to Information Technologies segment and influx of people related to it.

Pune has always derived the advantage of close proximity to the happening city and financial capital of India i.e. Mumbai. The first and one of its kind 6 Lane Expressway between Mumbai - Pune has considerably narrow down the traveling distance and its proximity.

Having said that, the kind of growth this city has achieved, in terms of Infrastructure, Transport and Utilities etc.. that seems to be quite unmanaged and in unplanned manner.

Considering the growth rate of the city, the infrastructure, public transport system seems to be at the same level where it was used to be 5 years before. The state government has always been advocating the so-called Knowledge Corridor between this two cities Mumbai and Pune. The very basic idea behind Knowledge corridor seems to be missing somewhere. Although government is promoting Pune as IT hub.

I am afraid to say that if you look at the infrastructure of the city, it seems that the city is not well prepared to accept that PUSH to become a ideal place to stay.

Public transport system in this city is in pathetic state. This adds further to the pollution levels which is at worst level. Although one can see quite a good number of buses running on city roads, but a people like me are always happy to watch those buses running without getting into it. The conditions of quite a few buses are pretty bad.

Thanks to PCMT & great applauds goes to those drivers, they are still managing to run those buses successfully on city roads. The state of the roads adds further to it and travel by PMT bus makes a real memorable journey. The state of the Bus is in so sorry state that, at times it looks like the Bus will brake into two parts while crossing over the so called SPEED BRAKERS can also be nick named as ''Tiny Mountains''. Buses are not maintained well, seats are nothing likes wooden plates, internally they are very dirty, dusty and lightning system within buses are meant only for imagining who's next to you!! Don?t ask me how they look like externally as there is lots of crafting work is done on the posterior of the buses but is not visible clearly again thanks to maintenance of the buses.

I think Pune also needs to derived the know how of the public transport system from Mumbai where the system is quite good and still considered to be trustworthy, even though influx of the people to this happening city is in thousands.....

I think even if the road state is improved from where it is now then it will make life more easier for puneites especially the heavily traffic roads like Solapur highway i.e. Shankar Sheth road, Tilak Road stretch between Bajirao Rd Junction towards Alka Talkies etc....

The development authority and off course Municipal corporation needs to look into it and they can always refer to cities like Thane & Nagpur where the infrastructure is improved quite significantly over a period of years.... Thanks to Municipal Commissioner Mr. Chandrashekar and off course people of Thane and Nagpur for their support to his great work.

Would like to request State Government, not to PUSH the development just for the name sake of promoting the city, rather put the infrastructure in place at first then development of any city will happen on its own.....than pushing the things !!!

Pune has got those advantages that other cities don?t have and it needs to add up on those to become a real ideal place in country. It is happening place on IT map being all major Indian, MNC's had setup the base in this very city.

Lastly I would say let Pune be always a prevail a place of Pensioner Place as it is know for, in terms of comfort in livingness. So that a proud Punekar can again say that '' Pune Tithe Kay Une !!! ''
