Hello All,

I am an avid believer that we as ordinary human beings can do our little bit to support scientific developments that will ultimately help mankind.

When I first came upon these Citizen Ecodrive Watches that never need a battery change - I actually recommended this watch to friends saying that - today it is a watch and tomorrow it will be a car, we need to support these technological advancements from our side also...etc.

Finally, last year at Onam, I bought the most premium of these Ecodrive Watches for my wife from First Citizen [brand shop], Cochin for Rs.5500/-

It never worked!

The watch that was supposed to never need a battery change never worked at all...

We are from Bangalore and so the saga started. We call up their Authorised Service Centre at Bangalore and we are asked to leave the watch with them.

After about two weeks we got the watch back - it worked for a few hours and then stopped again.

Back to service centre, back to us and back to service centre and back to us and so on for SIX attempts in a row!

By now the watch was over six months old without having been used at all by my wife!

I have personally spoken to almost all the Service and Customer Support Managers at Citizen in the entire Southern region during this time.

We were told to take it to the Service Centre...

Now for some facts - the watch works on a glass that actually absorbs light and converts to electrical energy. The Service Centre guy, a really helpful and nice old man told us that Citizen Ecodrive was having issues with recharging with its WOMEN'S WATCHES! The glass area seems to be too small or something like that for the watches to gather adequate charge...

I used to believe that the watch should have been replaced by the company since it was a manufacturing defect.

I have been unable to make this happen since a year or so.

Everytime I saw this watch lying on our dining table [yes, we had started to use it as a paperweight in the end] - my blood would boil!

So, last month, I took a hammer and simply smashed it into many, many pieces and threw it away.

Atleast I do not have to waste petrol and phone calls trying to get through to someone who cares.

BUT Citizen lost a customer for life...

The Ecodrive - Women's watches suck, kindly take note.
