I have had a Citibank Credit Card for over 4 years, and I have been very regular in making 100% of my payments before the due date.
I have never ever missed a single payment, and I had a 3 Lac Credit limit on my Card. My trouble started, when I deposited Cash in Citibank ATM on Brigade Road, against my Credit Card outstanding. I had mad multiple envelopes, as only 30 notes can be stuffed in one envelope.
When I check after couple of days to check my Card Account, I was shocked to find, that for 1 envelope I had received a Credit of Rs. 10000/- less than what I had deposited in the ATM with my own hands. I had deposited 30 X 1000/- in the envelope and sealed it, where as I got only Rs.20, 000/- Credit.
I immediately called Citibank to informed them of the discrepancy, and they said they ill investigate and let me know. They got back saying that they received only 20 K in that envelope Since the money wsa deposited by me, with my own hands after counting several times, I insisted that someone has committed a fraud and stolen the money. Citibank refused to accept it, and asked me to make the payment. I immediately cancelled the Credit Card. Now for the past several months, the collection agencies are calling me, at odd hours, non stop.some of the guys are also threatening me with legal action.
The outstanding Amount has now crossed 20 K! in less than one year. Couple of months back, citibank also automatically debited Rs. 4500/- from my Savings account to my Credit Card Account. I went to the Citibank Branc on MG Road regarding the debit, and they promised me that they ill get back to me. No one has bothered to call me after that. I visited their Collecction Agent(TCS - Tata Consultancy Services), and gave them all the emails I have exchanged.but they did not have any Manager ho could talk to me.
Last week, some collection Agent called me, and told me to say that "As I am out of station I could not pay", and that I can pay only Rs. 300/- and the phone calls wil stop.I refused to make any payment.and make any false statement.which they wold record and use against me, as my acceptance of the outstanding amount. This matter is still open.and I have refused to pay up a single penny.I will fight it out.and dont mind hiring a lawyer and spening double the Amount.
I am posting this message just to let everyone know, not to make any Cash deposits in Citibank ATMs.It is a big racket run.to dupe the customers.and harras them. Also Please do not deal with Citibank.they are a fraud company.out to cheat consumers.they have already gone already bankrupt in USA due to this.their Shares trading at less than a 1$. They should be kicked out of this country also.
