Poor service and communication

I have two Citibank Credit cards issued in my name. Both are photo identity cards. Unfortunately my credit card holder containing 10 credit cards got stolen (from Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad). Immediately I came to know about the theft, I started intimating all the credit card companies regarding the theft and blocked the cards and lodged an FIR with the local police regarding the theft. Since my Citibank card was a photocard, and had not been transacted for over 4 years I was sure that it must have already been inactivated.


However that was not to be and someone had misused my card to make purchases of Rs.50,000. I received a call from Citibank (Jamshedpur, place of issue of the card) stating that I need to pay the amount. On stating that the card was a photocard, which they checked with there records, they said that in that case, you need not have to bear the amount misused. This was going off an on for 3 months without any progress. While the fraud dept states that investigation is going on, the statement shows the amount billed to me.


As I am currently based out of Hyderabad, the Fraud case has been transfered to the Hyderabad office. I am sorry to say that I am regularly been harrassed by the CitiBank recovery team who come to our house at odd hours to clarify the payments due.


I have been to there office on Raj Bhavan Road in Hyderabad and met one Mr Vickey.I have submitted a covering letter stating the theft of the card along with the copy of the FIR some time in February this year. Vickey insisted to fill up a decleration form for the lost cards and I did the same and posted it to the Hyd office.


I was communicated that once the decleration form is filled up the investigation will be carried out by your Fraud department.


I was assured that some progress was going on from Citibank's side.


Now I am surprised to know that Citibank do not have a bit of co ordination between their office and your recovery team.


The recovery team comes to my house at odd hours and requests to make payments, and when I state that this is a case of misuse they go away stating that they were not communicated on this. This is a very poor service level on Citibank's part.


I am sure they may be having lot of corporate customers and I am sure all of them must be getting the similar service.
