This company is known for doing lay -offs not in recession time but every Quarter they lay off people because in Ceina India they hired so many peoples in very high salary. In Ciena India they are doing just maintenance of one 10 year old product. This product is almost stabilized now. So no new work and no new plans. So whoever module get complete stabilized , they ask him to leave.
Since Dec 2008 till April 2010 , they have done 9 rounds of layoff and I heard there is no hikes since last years. This company use to acquire company every year, then doing only integration work. Recently they acquired Nortel business. They are going to again fire people even now as no body is doing lay offs as o now. In a company employees grows if company believe in development and plan for coming time but here just they are hiring to resolve no of bugs per days basis.
A complete junk and bullshit company that will spoil your career.
