Hi all....its been some time since I have yacked about something. So I thought I would fill you MS'ians about this fabulous resort I had been to.
About the resort, its situated Vanguinim in Goa which is about 25 minutes from Miramar beach. Since the review is mainly about the resort I wont say much about Goa as a tourist attraction and will stick my yacking to the resort alone.
Ill start by saying a bit about the architecture. Well its build to resemble a fort of the days of yore. They have got canons located at the right places and also soldiers in their full uniforms and accourterment - wait for it - Painted onto the walls :))..now thats what u can call creativity in its entire 2 dimensional splendor.
The reception is manned by very courteous staff who took care of us immediately with a welcome drink and showed us to the comfy sofas in the lounge for a supposedly 2.5 hours wait. They were supposed to give us the room only at 11:00 noon and we had showed up at 8:30 in the morning. But hey what could we do? thats the time the bus dropped us off from Pune. But in the end I guess it was more convenient for them to give us a room rather than have some straggly looking people hang around the lobby. (Hey what can I Say? I had 8 hours of bus journey on my face.)
So got ourselves a very comfortable room overlooking the sea. Freshened up and we went down for breakfast. Well, the spread was pretty lavish with good attention given to continental and indian dishes. we had sausages, bacon, breads,salads,pasta,cornflakes juice on one side with dosa,idlis,appams,sambar and chutneys on the other. we gave our undivided attention to the sausages and bacon as dosas and idlis is something of a daily fare of me at home.( I YAM FROM GERALA U KNOW)
Then was the round of the resort and they had a wonderdful mix of everything. Right from a private beach with water sports to swimming pool, floor chess, beach volleyball, hammocks at the shady spots and indoor movies and various other entertaintment like carroms, chess, darts, cards,movies etc. The coffee house is the place to hang out with some chilled drinks and whichever games suits you or maybe just the movie.
The pool thouhg has strict rules about the right kind of swimwear. so no bermudas/half pants/salwars etc for the ladies. its either their way or NO Way. We did have loads of fun playing water polo when we were there.
They also have a full fledged casino where you can earn/lose depending on the way lady luck smiles at you. well my lady (wife) was not at all smiling on this case, so did not give the slots a shot at all.
the water sports have your banana boat rides and water scooters and speed boat rides but the fares are on the higher side. You might as well go to one of the beaches and enjoy the same thing at lesser rates. The evening by the beach is very peaceful with beach side music bands and kabab corners opening for the night.
So on the whole you can spend your entire day(s) at the resort only unwinding from your hectic office schedules. The resort offers something for everyone. No chance of anyone feeling bored.
Connectivity is also pretty good with the resort having its own taxi stand to take you around Goa for sightseeing. you can book it for the entire day of half day or just drop depending on your plans.
The checkout times are also pretty inconvenient as you have to check out at 12:00 noon. Most of the buses to Pune start after 5:00 and this caused some concern for us. But the hotel staff was very courtesous and offered us the use of all facilities(other than the rooms) of the resort until it was time for the bus.
so we whiled around a bit, dozed off in the hamocks and then with a heavy heart bid adeu to this wonderful place where we unwound and spent some quality time with ourselves.

So overall thumbs up for this resort on all fronts except for the breakfast part as they had the same menu for the three days of my stay? was it the same thing reheated and served or was it made fresh? the doubt still remains....
