What better time to rite a revu on this movie than a nice friday evening.....One of the very few good(read great) comicals that bollywood had churned out .....Can watch this movie any number of time... anytime.... anywhere... with or without anybody....

Was just reading something on Big B's good movies and thought to give some credit to one of my fav movies... starring him...and others....so here goes my revu....

The Partners in crime

The cast

Amithabh Bacchan, Dharamendra, Jaya Bhaduri, Sharmila Tagore, om prakash... Asrani...amongst a lot others... the best of the lot in any respect....and they did justice to the respect they got...

Producer director

N.C.Sippy and Hrishikesh Mukhejee... the power houses...

The expectations were high and they delivered

The Music

S.D.Burman...............I need not say anything.. He had always been superb and this was no exception...

SingersLata, Mukesh, kishore, Rafi.... The best, the golden, the superb....

So all in all a great package.. rarely have I seen in bollywood or hollywood that many great people leading to an excellent movie.... but this was an excpetion to the rule...Everybody contributing to their best and what turned out was an example... and example to live for ages... and ages to come .....

So now something about the movie....

This movie is about a husband(Dharam paa ji aka Parimal Tripathi) who gets frustated over his wife(Sharmilla) praising over her “Poojnea JijjaJI”s (Respectable brother-in-law) brain… something certainly that was hurting his ego as well because nobody can see his wife praising some other guy whoever he may be…

So the movie is all about how parimal tripathi… fools the Jijaji and proves his superiority or I will rather say.. shows to the wife that he is no less…..

The partners in this for him were Sukumar(Amitabh Bachhan), Prakash(Israni). Sukumar is Parimal’s childhood fren and they are shown to be the best of the frens….Prakash is parimal’s fren staying in the city where jijaji stays and is family frens with jijai’s family…. The director of the ploy is one oldie… whose name I could never remember…(But he as well has acted in a lot of hilarious movies… he was thr in golmaal as well) apart from this sharmilla knows about the plan….

The initial part of the movie is shot in scenic Shimla… where sharmilla meets dharam in a very comical situation and they fall in love… and ultimately get married…

After this amitabh is brought into the picture and his entrance is also worth a mention because of these song these two sing…(Sa re ga ma….)…

And then begins the fun…sharmilla’s jeeja ji wants to meet the groom she has chosen for herself and also needs a Pure Hindi speaking Driver…

So the plan is sharmila goes to her sister’s place with dharam as the driver(Pyare Mohan) and not the husband to test if Jijaji will recognize him of which sharmilla is pretty sure.but it was not to be… Dharam is superb in this section with superb comical dialogues provided to him… in pure hindi of course….

Om Prakash also impresses with his acting and dialogue delivery… The antics by the “DRUNKARD ” of Bollywood are also superb…Then comes the romance… Seeing his sister in law romancing with a driver makes the jeejaji furious but his situation is depicted perfectly…Could not do anything…

Now comes the second part of the play.. time to play hide and seek… Proxy Parimal(Amit) comes into picture and the actual one fleds(The driver Pyare) with his wife…Giivng jeejaji an ultimate shock of his life… he is ashamed to face Parimal and does not have words to console himself…The involvement of Prakash(Israni) starts here with him offering a stay to amitabh at his house….and there goes the oher love story…Here amitabh meets Jaya and tries to impress her, but jaya being an Indian woman can not be affectionate to a married man… so amitabh’s effort to woo her go in vain… few scenes here as well worth a mention… whoever has watched this movie can never forget the corolla being good for health and being bitter……

There is one more scene involving amitabh, dharam paa jee and israni where amitabh tells them that he is going to disclose everything about the drama before jaya… this is my fav, the dialogue, the enactment….the delivery, the flow… everything is so perfect…. Superb …..

This goess on for a few days and since amitabh sees no other way to woo jaya.. he tells her the full story. And she is also included in the drama….

Now its reentry for dharam ands sharmilla to the jeejaji’s place… followed up by the marriage of amit and jaya…ata a temple where everything is disclosed….

The last dialogue by om Prakash is also great…”…Is baar jukaam zara lamba ho gaya…”

So that was the movie…. Remarkable effort from everybody involved with the movie…. Superb in all respect….though my picks will be amitabh, israni,….and jaya …

The music was also very superb.. all the songs including the title song were sang very well…. The music certainly from S.D.Burman had to be class apart…..

On the ending note one more thing I ll like to add… though it was a comedy movie..but it very nicely depicted all the emotions we have… love, jealousy, affection, … and everything was depicted very superbly… though it had no space for hatred…..

And yes whenever I need a heartly laugh I go back to this movie……
