Christopher Lance Cairns better known as Chris Cairns is a genuine all rounder and according to me he is the top most allrounder I have ever seen. He is the son of the legendary New Zealander Lance Cairns.

Chris Cairns was born in 13 June 1970 in a small district known as Picton which is in Marlborough, New Zealand. He played his first class matches for Northern Districts, county matches for Nottinghamshire and also played some first class matches for Canterbury.

He made his Test Debut against Australia at Perth in 1989/90. This was the only test match played against both the teams. The test match was born where Cairns made only 1 in the first innings when he was caught behind of Merv Hughes. Australia had made a huge score of 521 in the first innings and New Zealand made a poor score of 231 and they were made to follow on. In the second innings, NZ made 322-7 in which Cairns contributed just 28. It was not a special test for Cairns.

Cairns made his One Day Debut against England at Wellington in 1990/91. He made just 5 runs and took 2 wickets. At the start of the career he was not promising, but as he started to mature as a player, he proved his critics.

Cairns as a batsmen played in 55 tests scoring 2853 runs at an average of 32.79 consisting of 4 100's, 20 50's and 6 ducks. His highest score was 126.

As a bowler, he has taken 197 wickets at an average of 28.81. His best performance with the ball is 7-27 at a strike rate of 52.93, he has taken 5 wicket haul 13 times and one 10 wicket haul.

In One Day Internationals, he is explosive and a great entertainer. As a batsmen he has played in 151 matches scoring 3614 runs at an average of 29.15 with 4 100's and 19 50's and 7 ducks. His average is not so good, but u have to take into consideration that he bats lower in the order at 6 or sometimes at 7 as NZ have a great depth in batting.

As a bowler, he has taken 155 wickets at an average of 31.70. His strike rate as a batsmen is phenomenal as it is more than 100. He also hits more sixes than any other batsmen in the world.

Apart from bowling and batting, he is a great fielder too, so that makes him a quality allrounder. He has established himself as a great cricketing Icon the the world of cricket. Indeed, a great all rounder, but the only worry he has to look out for is his injuries. He gets injured everytime and loses most of the matches.

His greatest innings include his undefeated hundred against India in the final of the ICC knock-out tourney at the Nairobi Gymkhana. He destroyed the Indian attack single handedly, he faced 113 balls and hit nine fours and two sixes for his 102.

Above all, a great International Hero in the World Of Cricket.
