A Poet or an Engineer? what shall i Be???

All roads lead to rome, but sometimes the paths may kill you before you reach there!! And why Rome anyways?? There are more beautiful and satisfying destinations.. Whole Universe is wide open!!!

So if you are passionate about your dream, follow it, because nothing else will give u happiness or satisfaction, it might even kill the only flame alive within u....

But then there are also an awful lots of times when people follow the love of their life only to find out that it wasnt their dream it was just an illusion!!

We have Keats and Yeats and Tagores and Naidus, but were they all only poets??

They were great thinkers too...

You can be a poet even if you are a scientist, but if you chose poetry as your first path, you might be too old to become a scientist then?

But then, never discourage those who dream!! for they have the universe's support in achieving it :P.... I am not encouraging or discouraging you, only presenting a totally my-sided view of everything..

Ultimately nothing matters,

both the poet and the scientist go back to the same earth!!

what matters our creative endless toil,

when all of a sudden oblivion ends the coil.....

This uncertainty of the coil of life is what makes you think that you must live every moment fully, and relish it to its end. Do the thing that makes you happy and bingo, you have lived a life worthwhile... or is it??

If you love what you are doing, even being a sweeper should not be a problem (very easily said then done, I know ). Be the best sweeper you can be and your prices will go sky high :D.

There are many kinds of people when it comes to choosing a career

1) Practical people who think of security first, passion later!!

T

hey take up work, just any work/career, not because they dont have dreams, but because they have families, expectations.

On most of them, the responsibility to support their families and expectations loom very high, and hence they take the most easy/practical approach.

Some of these practical people are very good on any path, provided they are pointed the right way, but they need good guidance... they are those who have beautiful minds but dont see the dreams, who are talented but not know whats right for them, who will change directions innumerable number of times, they are like the unexplored diamond mines......

2) Some people are all-rounders, born allrounders or developed all rounders, great at doing many things, sports, books, poems, math, science , painting - you name it!! They dont like boring themselves with only 1 task, and such people are really gifted...They can see whats the trend like, who is Happy?? MBA or Aeronautical engineer... Model or Farmer?

These are also practical in nature, but in addition they are multi-gifted... Most of them follow the path they think is going to be the most resourceful. They then excel in it. Most of IIM toppers or IIT toppers usually belong to this class.. Geniuses

3)And then there are those who find it late in their life which career is more suited to them... they change gears and lo behold, not only they are more happier, they are more successful as well,,,,

these are the people who find out later what dreams they had, and what their heart wished them to follow

Osho Rajneesh and Deepak Chopra maybe included in this list!!!

Rajneesh found his purpose at 28th year of his life, after being a cool and very bright professor, and Deepak Chopra found his dream late at the end of forties, from a successful M.D Doc in US to a writer....

But the best example here would be the love of my life : -

Mahatma Gandhi,,,,

he found his dream and purpose somewhere when he was preparing to become a Barrister, One who would know french, violin, piano and who would wear suits and golden watches... Woww... Where would we have all been ?? if that had been so, small decisions (small seeming decisions) can change the world...and time too!!

Had he become Barrister Mohandas Gandhi, how different would the world have been?? I cant even imagine.......

Wow..... I am glad he decided to ditch that career in law...Leaders are always welcome!!

:))

A million cheers for the decision.......

4)

and last and the rare tribe comes of the dreamers!!

(between dreamers and practical people lots of other types exist, but I am not writing a book here { not a good writer anways as you would have guessed by now :p } )

These are the people who were born to do that thing only and nothing else, their careers comes naturally to them, through all the ups and downs,,, lots of great examples here

Sachin Tendulkar being my bestest :D ( I have always loved him).. Cricket comes naturally to him. The bat is a part of him, you cant separate him from the game...

Lata mangeshkar being another one, the kokilkanthi was born to sing only

and

Dhirubhai ambani , Asim Premji

Bill Gates being other ones,,,(most successfull business people usually have lots of companies, bill gates invested only in the computer sector for very long after he became successful)

most successful people love what they are doing,, the world follows their path now, but the same world tried its best to deter them, but they had that tenacity and courage, that nothing else mattered.....

Tendulkar and Bill gates didnot study much, but still they have the power to employ the IIM toppers now,, (atleast Bill does),,,

These people are those who know their purpose and dreams from the day they started to think!! (can be said for all of the above ;) )

Success is one thing, Satisfaction a slightly different thing, but more often than not those who love what they are doing, end up being successful as far as they are concerned. And once a dream grips you like it should, sky is the limit.......

but wait ,

( I use too many buts,, my new year resolution is being shattered to pieces, but I cant help it)

Luck might be another factor,

Van Gogh is a good example here, everyone pities him and loves his work and talks great talks about him,,,

he might be the most valuable painter of all times, but if he himself wasnt happy while he lived, whats the use??

What life is that , which has passed sadly

what love is that, which isnt that madly............:D

You can take any decision based on the type of person you are, chances are you will meet a lot of hardships if you belong to last category, and a lot of easy fun if you are the practical kind....(Easy fun is loosely used here, nothing in life is easy, not even writing a review!!!, and there are no such things as free lunches :D)

But ultimately it all goes down to what you love doing, and more importantly how much you love what you do?

A note from the heart

Dont strive to be arundhati roy, or kalpna chawla or Sachin or Bill,, be yourself (again very easily said than done) and be the best at being yourself... others dont matter!!

the path was nothing short of deadly struggle

of pain & toil & endless crying

the clouds tried their best to pull him down

but failed to keep a star from shining

ps.... I edited my review a bit,,, sorry for bearing the brunt.......

cheerz
