Mallika Residency, Chennai- a bad hotel. Review on Choosing the Best Hotel

When I saw their webpage on the net of Mallika Residency, Chennai, I was impressed and budget was also not high. However the quality of service they provide is not even worth half of what they charge.

Pros: Rooms are per se not bad

Cons:

1. Though near the railways station, there is parctically no approach road to the hotel and most likely you have to carry your luggage from the street till the hotel via an extremely narrow, congested gully as we had to do.

   
   




2. Rooms are unkempt and dirty. The bathroom door mat was so soggy wet and they did not even replace it. Linen was dirty and replacement was not possible they said due to laundry delay. (what kind of hotel is that which does not keep a buffer stock?) They did not provide towels nor mini soaps.

   
   




3. Service is lousy and staff are impolite and have bad attitude. One bottle of beer took almost 5 hours to arrive. Nobody picks up the reception phone. They seem to be extremely short staffed too.

   
   




4. They claimed to have vegetarian restaurant, but food was brought from some other place and one dry roti was Rs.20/- which was not worth it at all. They did not provide plates, spoons, fork  or napkins. Salad was one onion and few chillies (whole uncut).

   
   




5. Room was riddled with COCKROACHES!!

   
   

Unless really in dire situation one should avoid this hotel, especially if you have lots of luggage and one can get better hotels at the same cost or even lower rate in other areas near the station.
