Kodak or Fuji?
Kodak film tends to bring out more of the red tones in pictures. It focuses more on warmer tones than the greens and blues.
Fuji film tends to pick up the greens and blues more. It is ideal for scenery shots that you want to appear vivid.such as a green hill against a blue sky.
- trouble shooting your current film choice
If you find that your landscapes are washed out or slightly yellow and you are currently using Kodak, switch to Fuji. This should show an improvement. If you are using fuji and your people are yellow-cast, try kodak. If you are using kodak and your faces are appearing red or sunburned and the people were not sunburnt while the picture was taken, try fuji. It should tone down the redness more.
Film Speeds
100 speed is ideal for bright sunny outdoor pictures of things with no movement, such as flowers or scenery.
200 is good for bright or somewhat cloudy, low movement.
400 is a good general, every day film.
800 and 1000 are good for motion pictures, such as a sporting event.
The lower speeds are less grainy, so if you want to blow a picture up, it looks best and less grainy if you use a lower speed.
how I know
I worked at Proex(which was bought out by Wolf Camera, and more recently Ritz camera) for 3 years. We needed to know this to recommend product to customers!
