Few Tips

Being a regular internet user, it is important that you should choose a good ISP especially if you are working online, just like me. Choosing an ISP is not just about good plans and superfast speeds. I have had few bad experiences with few ISPs and I have even written reviews about that. Below are my tips for choosing an ISP for you.

First of all, determine your needs. If you work online and constantly need good internet speeds, then choose a well-established name. It is always a good thing to consult your neighbors and friends regarding their choice of ISPs. If your cable operator happens to provide internet services, then try to visit him and ask about the plans. However, make sure they provide reliable internet connection.

Customer care is of utmost importance. It is always a horrible experience to see your net down and no one catering to your complaint for days. Try to talk to the customer care of all the major ISPs in your area and find out who has the best customer service.

If someone in your neighborhood already has a broadband plan, then ask for his/her advice. Whether they are satisfied with the services of their ISPs. If the answer is in affirmative, then you can go ahead with that ISP.

Never fall into the trap of advertisement. An ISP promising unlimited data and exceptional speeds mostly disappoint you. Choose an ISP that offers affordable plans with good speeds. Speed is important, however, more relevant is the stability of the connection. Ask the ISP of the reliability of the connection, especially during rainy season.

Check with the ISP whether or not they are including any hidden charges in your plan. If you find this, it is better to avoid that ISP. Especially, check the data limits and speeds and whether the speed advertised in your plan is actually the speed you get while using the internet.

It is always a good option to check the speed of the internet before installing the connection. Ask the ISP to verify the speed of the connection first via websites like Ookla before the actual installation.

Last but not the least, make sure you have the contact number of the ISP provider, apart from the customer care number. If your ISP is a cable network, then ask for the number of the cable operator so that you can contact him, if you want a quick fix for your internet problems.

Being an avid user of internet myself, these are the things I have learnt over my course of using internet for the past 4-5 years. Do check all these points before choosing an ISP.
