A virus is a series of mailicious codes written by computer programmer with an intention of affecting other pcs in the world. A virus is harmful and sometimes it may be funny also.
The'Chernobyle' or CIH virus, which ruined motherboards during each past strike, could hit computer users again tomorrow the April 26th.
The virus could be dormant in computers, and get activated on April 26, damaging both the motherboard and the hard disk.
This is the most harmful virus to affect the hardware. It affects both motherboard as well harddisk.
This destructive file infector inserts itself into the free space at the end of a PE file and in between the file as well. The change in file size is not noticeable. Once the virus is triggered, it overwrites the hard drive and destroys FLASH BIOS.
If the Flash BIOS is write protected by jumper, the CIH virus deletes all data stored on the hard disk, which practically puts every computer User at risk.
This virus also runs the fdisk and also erases all the datas stored in the harddisk.
So now finally, in order to prevent your machine from this harmful viruses hereis the hints:
Use good antivirus softwares with latest pattern files.
If you are not having any antivirus softwares means just change your system date to some april 27 today itself and on April 27 th correct it back.(Be careful if you are using your pc with any accounting software means then again changing system may affect very badly)
Lastly if you are not so brilliant to use this simple tips DON'T USE YOUR COMPUTER ON APRIL 26th. Let your PC to take rest for one day.
And also if you are using the operating system other than Windows 95/98 be relax .It will never affect your machine.
