First of all, I must tell you that i'm an electrical engineer.
please note that when you go to buy an ac, they will insist on selling the 1.5 ton stuff.they will say one ton will not serve the purpose at these temperatures, this and that. But do not listen to their stories. Buy only 1 ton ac. For your room its more than sufficient and of course will save a lot of electrical energy.
Few more tips :
Buy a videocon split ac. If you wanna buy voltas window ac then you can go for 0.8 ton. Surprised ??? But its true my friend.
Initially you may start ac with temperature setting at 22.
After its cool, set the temp. At 26. Its a very comfortable temp.. It will reduce load on your ac and your pocket as well. Some people run their ACs at 18-20 and sleep with a blanket. See the fun eh.....
