Hitachi - Do not ever Invest in this Brand.

This is the most crappiest brand I have ever used and swear never again to invest ever again in this Brand. I bought a Hitachi model number RAT 518 D SUMMER TC on 14th of June 2012. Untill few months everthing went fine except that when we compared the cooling with other brands we always felt that the blower flow was less. I invested 32800 for this brand considering it as one of the best because of double DC motor and all that crap. This model was one of the most expensive brand after O general window air conditioners. I thought that once we spend well in a premium brand like Hitachi we would be relaxed for the next 6-8 years. After few months the PCB died on the AC as the water from inside the AC seeped through the wires and into the PCB hence short circuiting it.Now this premium brand AC does not have any button and hence we could not run the AC after that day until the repair person from Hitachi came after 4-5 days. Due to the Warranty the part was replaced free but having invested in such a premium brand and getting a problem in less than 6 months was unaceptable. After that everything went okay untill the end of season around mid November.


June 14th 2013 - Warranty expired


August 22nd  2013 - Suddenly in the ac stopped in the middle of the night dispalying E9 error code on the display. Since the warranty was expired I went to google and came across so many people who were facing the same problems was Hitachi AC( E9 error). In a few blogs the people said that they spend another 6000 bucks to get the motor repaired by Hitachi. Since the warranty had already expired I thought of calling a local AC techncian to look into and give me a quotation for the repairs. The local guy clearly said that the parts of Hitachi were not avaliable at the local market and that I would only have to deal with Hitachi for getting the DC motor repalced.


Finally I called called Hitachi with reference number - 13091400531 on 31st of August and they said that they will be sending a technician home to Diagnose the issue and the Technician visit would cost me 330 bucks per visit. I agreed. The technican finally came and said that both the DC motors and the PCB was faulty and the total expense to replace the 2 DC motors and 1 PCB and the Labour charges would be 8900 bucks. Finally I said no and I decided to sell this Peice of crap to a kabadi wala and buy a new AC with a better customer experience Maybe - Voltas - reason - Being an Indian Brand Parts are avaliable in the local market and they are easily repairable than being replaced and can be fixed by Local technician or a Voltas representative.

  • If any of the Hitachi management is looking at this Review please let know that there are many Hitachi customers who are pissed off with your brand and prouducts.
