Choosing Reference Software
Oct 23, 2001 12:38 PM 2632 Views

What's the best reference software that I can have?

Well I would say that there is no one program that is the best. The software that is best for me may not be the best for someone else; your experience, research needs, and software requirements determine which program will satisfy you. While choosing a reference you have to do a certain amount of research to find the best product for you.

First of all decide on the program you want -beginners level, intermediate or expert level. You can start by defining your objectives in purchasing computer programs, then look for the best that match your needs.

Be aware of your operating system configuration, the operating system being used?

What is the experience you have in your field? Seek opinions from people who are using the software and the reasons for using the same.

Find out if they are happy to use it and the problems they faced. Also find out the technical help being provided and the usefulness of the manual accompanying the software.

Check out  if there is a trial period of the reference software you wish to have online. Check out its usefulness with its content

See if it is easy to use.

Check out its installation. You should be able to install it on your system without any problems. Also find out the space it is going to occupy.

Check out  if it is the latest and updated version.

Check  if the content is well organized.

Check if  there is an easy-to-use printout option?

In the end see if it fits your budget.

Remember the requirements of each person varies.

Don't be afraid to re-evaluate your software should your needs change.
