Wedding gifts

Wedding gifts are one of the most important gifts you will ever give and/or receive in your lifetime. The main reason for this is that for the bride and groom, their wedding day is a once off and so the wedding gifts they receive will be once in a lifetime also!

Unlike birthday gifts, gag gifts, holiday gifts and Christmas gifts, wedding gifts are not given randomly and annually, although anniversary gifts are. Wedding gifts that are given are usually not specifically for the bride or groom, but rather the two of them together. Quite often, a registry will be created so that givers of wedding gifts can see exactly what it is the couple is after.

Wedding gifts are normally items that the couple will need for a new house, and are usually very specific, rather than a gift basket as an example. The thought of weddings creates many gift ideas from people, and wedding attendees spend a lot of time ensuring that the gift they purchase is a unique gift, and last but not least, a great gift idea.

This is the one occasion that you may have to dig a little deeper for. Generally gifts bought for weddings incorporate practical items such as homeware or things for the kitchen. Basically this is to give the couple a good start in their marriage.

Of course things like TVs and VCRs are accepted items but are usually given by the parents of the couple - as most of the time, they are the only ones who would know what sort of leisure items they own and therefore others will buy things that they will definatley be able to use.

The choice is up to you but if you are really having troubles, you may consider giving money as a gift. This doesnt mean you dont want to put any thought into the gift, it is just another way of helping out the married couple, and money is always useful where they may need an item but would like to choose the one they want. So dont feel bad giving money, it is very common.
