I have never managed to forget my mom's birthday, it will atleast come to my mind as an enlightenment at the last moment, and the first thing she says before that day is that, I just don't need to gift her as long as I don't finish my studies and find a job! This used to be something on which I can never agree, but I can certainly wish her, and gift her in some way possible!
Well, without her daily cup of tea, me waking up in the morning is almost impossible! There are still lots of days to go before my mom's birthday, but still I chose to write on this one, because if I just couldn't get the ideas right then, it would be a real big miss for me! May be it will be in the middle of my lab exams, and this review can be a more distant probability then!
Flowers and cards
These happen to be just the common gifts that some one would recieve, but with the assistance of love and respect, it will certainly prove better, much more valuable than its cost! Well, mom won't be having an opportunity to celebrate her birthday with her friends like we do, and so she won't be recieving too many gifts. So whatever is given to her, with a pleasant smile, and with a'Happy Birthday' wish from the bottom of your heart, you would be giving her one of the best gifts, no matter how much the gift's real cost is!
The selection of the card can be of some importance here. The words in the card should also add to the beauty of the occasion, as it does show your feelings a bit. How doesn't love flowers? The flower tradition is something which I had been following for a long time now, unfortunately there are no flowers in the flat which we reside right now, and the sign boards'Don't touch the flowers' and'Don't step on the lawn' means that it won't be happening for a long time!
Long time, no movie
Its a long time since she saw a movie, and I have absolutely no doubt that she will be happy to watch one in the CD, unlike the usual type of old movies which are repeated almost five or six times in two or three months, the ones she happens watch on the TV channels. As she is working, she may not even have time to watch these old masterpieces!
She doesn't have any love for those senti serials, and I dominate the idiot box whenever there is a Cricket match and also sits in front of it watching MTV and the movies like RHTDM, AAA and lots more for the tenth or eleventh time, and dad dominates the news channels! So I think I should certainly give her a Malayalam family movie and watch it with her. Better get more than one film, because my selection is too bad on most of the occasions!
The Hair cutting strategy
The fact that I saved more than Rs.200 by not cutting my hair, didn't seem to impress my mom a bit. She used to tell me everyday to cut my hair. What can be even worse, as she keeps telling that I have more hair than the girl next door, but that didn't make any impact on my determination to cover my face with hair! But in the last two weeks, I had a break from it because the local priest just said that I look somewhat like Jesus Christ, thank God that I found some one who do appreciate my hair style!
All the barbers in the Alwaye town may want to attack me, but still I am not in a mood to cut the precious wealth of mine, the only thing I have earned in the last few months! But I am sure that I will cut them if she tells me to do so, nearing her birthday, may be no better birthday gifts can match this one! Not trying to match with what Zayed Khan did in Main Hoon Na, but still I believe this one is going to work(for each and every boy who has got extra amount of hair!).
Have you ever seen those books?
Nope, I am not planning to give my mom any book as a gift. Actually, this used to be my mom's favourite question ever since I entered my college days. She would love to see me atleast 100 metres away from my computer, and moving that joystick violently while playing NFS or POP which makes her think that I am going to break it!
I think I need to sit in front of some books, atleast on her birthday and days after that, so that she can stop worrying about me, 24 hours a day! It seems that I have to sit in front of those 500 page things which trigger sleep! May be this one is the best birthday gift I can ever give, something which I should have given long ago!
