A friend of mine had a funny experience with this company. He had an insurance policy taken for his mother(age 64), himself and his wife. He paid the premium continuously for 4 years. However in the current year he did not pay and the policy lapsed. On lapsation the company asked his mother to go through a medical check up. She did and had a good report.
However, the company has refused to renew the policy -because she is over 65. Sounds silly because last year they did renew it(when she was 67!).
My take is why did they ask her to do the medicals? it sounds funny, does it not? In the ratings that I have given I have commented about claim settlement etc. that is because it is this site's requirement. Frankly I have not tested them on any such criteria
People should be careful to avoid companies which are fair whether friends ONLY. You should take a plan only from a company which has plans going upto your end of life. Do not take a policy with such companies who leave you in the lurch after your age of 64! I recently cancelled my plan with a pvt. sector company and shifter to NEW INDIA which covers me till I(or other dependants) till the age of 85. Beware of most of such companies!
