Salaam Namaste everyone! (don’t worry, I know which album I’m writing about)

Music is by Pritam of Dhoom fame (who also created the rocking title track of Remix). I’ve heard (actually read) that many of the songs from the new movie Chocolate have been copied from various artistes. I actually have no clue about any of them, so I’m basing all my opinions on what I’ve heard from the album :)

I also have no idea about what the movie is about (just call me ignorant). The multi-starrer has Anil Kapoor (ready to commit another murder), Irfan Khan (I always forget his name), Sunil Shetty (seems like his kind of film), Arshad Warsi (bhai ke bina), Imraan Hashmi (how many kisses do you think he’ll get this time?) and Tanushree Dutta (umm…no comment?). But the name sounded interesting – Chocolate! One of my favourite things...how do you like yours?

Light and Milky…

Halka Halka ~Sonu Nigam

This is the first song from this movie which I heard (and watched). Nicely picturised, with all the main cast dancing around London decked in coats and gloves. May not appeal to you much at first, but it grows on to you after a few listens. This was a really well-sung song (duh, its by Sonu Nigam!). The various tones created by his voice add flavour to the song and music. The beginning has a weird latino style rhythm to it which is carried out throughout the whole song. Come to think about it, all of the songs have weird beginnings to them…

Dark and Bitter…

Zehreeli Raatein ~KK

This is a KK gaana all the way. It has all the typical disco club beats in the background. It gives you the “Voh Lamhe” feel, but no song can match up to that one. As you can tell from the title, the lyrics aren’t very joyful…It’s not a feel-good tune, but it’s a nice one to listen to sometimes (maybe depending on your mood). Gives you the feeling of loss, separation, distances, etc.

Exotic…

Jhuki Jhuki ~ Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan

This one starts off like some tribal worship program (I did say they had weird beginnings). The lyrics are nothing new - ishq ka khul gaya ek naya raasta/ pyaar ka yaar ka mil gaya hai pata blah blah blah… But I have to say, ishq mein to apna pata bhulaakar pyaar ka pata mil jaata hai ;) Sunidhi shines as usual, her strong voice complimenting Kailash Kher’s nicely. All in all this is a kool tune with a lot of sufi influences…or as Na-kool would say “totally sufi, dude!” (in both his meaning and mine)

Hot and HOT!

Mummy ~ Sunidhi Chauhan

This song is not at all about loving your mummy dearest (as you may have guessed)! I thought this song was hilarious, just coz it reminds me of all my friends (not me, of course ;) running off behind their mummy’s backs… It starts off with a fast-pace, with people shouting in the beginning (can’t understand what the hell they are saying). Then Sunidhi comes in …the first time I heard these lyrics – “Kehte hain sabhi ke badi HOT hoon main/ tell you WHAT tequila ka ek SHOT hoon main” – she sounded totally tipsy, maybe after having a shot too many…

Very Important: Ok, don’t accept this song from strangers. Don’t listen to this song too much, and beware of the hangover if you do. And please Mummy se na kehnaaaa ;)

Fruity and Nutty…

Panaahon Mein Mohabbat Ki ~ Kunal Ganjawala

I actually likes this song. Its not really nutty! But I could hardly write spicy (chocolate) could I? Except the starting part – You don’t believe anything a girl says, if you listen close you hear the hiss of a snake that part is just down-right weird!

The music has a latino feel to it, with Kunal’s voice to match it. This tune is definitely worth a listen, and it is a good dance one (if you like salsa).

Sweet and Cold…

Bheega Bheega ~ Indi, Sunidhi Chauhan

Looks like Sunidhi is creating a lot of dhoom in this album! Yet another track sung by her. The start of the song hip-hops styled and doesn’t match the rest of the song (surprise surprise). The transition from that to the slow sweet lyrics sung by Sunidhi needs to be more subtle. Looks like the Hashmi guy wasn’t satisfied with just bheege honte…he needed a full bheega December, sard pani, tez dhadkan, garam saase and bheegi kahaani! I just hope no one gets pneumonia…

Assorted…

Halka Halka (Remix) ~Sonu Nigam

This one sounds a lot like the original, but with a stronger rhythm. There are bhangra beats in the background, and some more rapping! So balle balle away with this one :)

Fill-centred and Indulgent…

Khalish ~ Suzanne D’Mello, Kunal Ganjawala

This is quite slow. The female singer sings in a whispery voice, while the male has a more prominent role. It has a rock feel to it, and occasional changes in rhythm. Suddenly these fan-like voices start chanting something, which you soon work out is “we want freedom!” The song then speeds up after that, until the female finishes it off…

Pure and Natural…

Chocolate Theme ~ Instrumental

There’s not much to say about this one, considering that it’s an instrumental. It basically sums up the previous track, with some “Chocolate…” and random voices thrown in here and there.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that’s it! The End. No wait. You still have to give me your lovely feedback :) Don’t forget to RRC!!!
