A Village Love Story. Review on Chitchor

An ordinary and small story, picturized in a village and watching this movie feel like story characters are among us, coz we belong to villages, and not only this we feel ourselves one of character. As usual all credits goes to Rajshri, presented first cinema scope film to be a hit. Magnetic tapes were used for the first time for dubbing and mixing. Director Basu Chatterjee described script and filmed in village which abounds in natural has given true and realistic film which takes audience miles away comparatively other film full of violence, and sex. Sweet and pleasing music. Songs were recorded in Yesudas’s and Hemalata’s voice, whose voice are very kin to ear. Chitchor won a filmfare Award for the Best Female Play back singer and a National Award for playback singer Yesudas. All songs are super hit.

Pitamber Chaudhary headmaster of a school in Madhupur asked his daughter Meera to go the railway station to receive a young engineer who has been assigned for a project in Madhupur. She has had a talk with him and if Geeta, Chaudhary’s youngest daughter, can win him over, he will make an ideal husband for her. This instruction in Meera’s letter is followed and the young new comer arrived. New comer soon becomes intimates with Chaudhary family.

A companionship develops a romance between him and Geeta, he is a singer, he begins to give Geeta lessons in singing. Actually somehow young engineer couldn’t reached to Madhupur on that day. Confusion caused by this news Chaudhary once again goes to railway station to receive the new comer, he received engineer Sunil, then already there Vinod who was he, he was friend of Sunil and had been introduced to the headmaster by him as his boss as well as friend. Geeta was informed of th misunderstanding and asked by her parents not to meet Vinod. Singing lessons are not yet finished, Geeta continues to see Vinod off and on.

Engineer Sunil finally decides to get marry, by word as well as gesture, Vinod knew that his boss who is his friend is in love with Geeta and a tie up decision. He decides to leave Madhupur to give Sunil a clear way. On the day when Vinod is go leave Madhupur, which also is the day of Geeta’s engagement.

Film climax is very calm like other film in Rajshri, Geeta goes to the railway station to dissuade Vinod from going, but she didn’t find him on the train. She finds Sunil outside the station with a jeep waiting for her to drive back to the engagement ceremony,

Audience will be silent here…
