If Chinese means all noodles and fried rice for someone, this place would definitely help correct that impression. Though I have no way of saying whether the food served is authentic Chinese or not, I can vouch for the fact that the food here is interesting, different, and something that will titillate your taste buds.
I reached China Pearl not by plan, but by accident. It was my friend’s engagement party and the group was deciding on a place to have dinner. After the initial votes, the most vocal amongst us insisted that that China Pearl is the restaurant worth dining that day. Though my preference would have been a North Indian restaurant or max Pizza Hut, I said yes thinking that it would at least be a new experience. And an experience it was!
First of all, getting into the restaurant is not easy, esp on a weekend and if u don’t have a booking. On the day I was there, we had to wait for more than an hour as there were only 2 tables which could accommodate 8 people. The place is small and I think they can accommodate max 40 ppl at a time.
Coming to the food, they have a good variety of soups. I went for Tom Yum (though I dislike spicy) because that was a clear favourite with me while I was at Thailand.
The assortment of starters available is a real attraction here. If u go there, try the Shaolin sticks definitely. If u r in a group, u can try 4-5 different starters and these would remind you of tastes that you never knew existed (at least it did for me).
For the main course, one could try a combination of noodles and rice (Mushroom Fortune rice would be my recommendation in rice). After all these, I would have loved to feast one of those exotic desserts, but decided to postpone that to my next visit as I couldn’t eat more.
While coming out of China Pearl, I cudn’t help but remark to my friend that it has been worth the wait to get in.
