We needed a desperate break from our daily routine stress activites and went in search of a remote place, where we may not get even a single phone call. Fortunately, we found a resort called Mainad coffee estate near kelagur(ChikMaglur District), around 35 kms prior to horanadu .Luckily, this was the perfect place for 5 of us to hang out in this long weekend.
This is the place, where your phones would go to not reachable mode especially airtel and hutch.However, this is not the case for BSNL .We reached the place early morning at around 6:30 A.M which happens to be a 7 hrs journey from bangalore, a guy with the jeep was waiting near the bus stop to pick us up. Later, It was around 4 kms from kelagur bus stand where we found Mainad Estate, occupying nearly 150 acres with various plantations . We were given with a reasonably big house where 5 of us could stay comfortably.However, this house was not great but reasonably good and neat enough for us to stay there for 3 days and 2 nights.The estate was so calm, that we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Earlier, we had planned to go out somewhere, but later after reaching that place, it was so strange that we didn't go any where else, except for a small trek near by .It has a good sight for sun set as well.
We played cricket for 2 days, which was a good time pass. The Cook there will prepare food as per your requirements, may be veg or non-veg. Camp fire is another attraction of this place. If you want to visit places like habbe falls, mulengiri, hornadu, etc you can hire a jeep for a one full day and go . I would recommend this place for those who want to hang out with friends for a really good time, for a couple of days .
The cost of home stay(with food, coffee, tea, snacks, etc) for a day is around 750 /-.However, it is negotiable as well. You can catch a bus from Bangalore - hornadu and get down at kelagur, where some one would pick you up for the estate by jeep.Reply me, if you would like to get contact nos of the same.
