I visited Chiang Mai with my family . we  stayed in Centara Duangtawan. A very nice 4 * Hotel ( ridiculously cheap maybe around RS 3500/-per night for 2 including a very good breakfast) very near to the Night Market. I will suggest people to reach Chiang mai on Sunday as they can enjoy the Sunday Night Market on the Ratchadamnoen road( one must see it). Also for people who are pure veggies and want to savour nice thai veg food there is a Pure veg restaurant (serving exceptional Thai food)in front of the Tha Pae  gate named "Aum" Restaurant. Also tehre is a very good Indian restaurant in the night market called "spicy bollywood"

We had hired a private transport to take us around Chaing mai (Golden Triangle and the Elephant safari).the Elephant safari is a very good experience for the family where you get to see the elephant show, a bullock cart ride, a elephant ride (through the river) and then riding the raft. The trip to Golden triangle can become boring and hectic for a few but as we have travelled far enough to Chiang mai its worth a look.I must say the people in thailand especially the tourist guides and the vehicle drivers are very honest and polite. We had our car break down at night while coming back from The Golden triangle trip. The Guide was feeling so guilty that he brought us food and drinks with his own money( I do not think we can see such a behavior from any guide in India). Also they took us to the arts centre and the crafts centre and the silver factory.

The guide clearly instructed us that we are only showing you as it is a tourist attraction but even if you do not buy anything it is OK with us ( where can you find such honest guides). The only fact about Chiang mai which my family was little bit unhappy was the occasional smell of meat  that you can sense in the market. Otherwise my family has given more liking to Chiang mai than Bangkok.A very good and neat place for our Indian families travelling with kids. All in all I can say that people who have an eye for the art and love to see art at its very best ....Chian mai is the place for you.You can enjoy a very relaxing holiday in chain mai. Also I must thank my travel agent in Pune ( neeraj journeys: 02025671142) for providing excellent hotels and logistic support in Thailand at a very affordable price ( It does not get cheaper than this for such a high quality of service.Bon voyage
