Good as a general store but bad as a restaurant. Review on Chhappan Bhog, Katra, Allahabad

HI, everyone, I am going to share my views on Chhappan Bhog located in Katra Allahabad Kutchery road.

The shop itself(as I call it) is very old and I remember going there after my school. Few of my friends used to study in Mary Lucas School, and this is on the opposite side of the school wall so it was closest and within easy reach.

I used to go there to have cake, pastries and all other bakery items like biscuits, cream rolls, toffees, chocolates etc. In last few years like 7-8 years back they have upgraded their menu and from a cake shop they have now turned into a complete restaurant. So, few days ago I happen to go there with my family to have some personal work and we planned to have our lunch there. So the waiter asked us to go to go to 1st floor using staircase. We went there, and to our surprise it was all empty, I mean we were the only 4 members over there and it was all blank and empty.

Somehow, we sorted our menu and ordered food. Despite, being the only customers and with similar orders it took them almost 45 minutes to serve us. The food(Chole Bhature) was even though hot but had a different pungent smell, unlike a freshly prepared meal. The menu was overly priced and looking at the time they took to prepare 4 plates of chole bhature, we planned to have our deserts at some other place.

Even though we stayed there for a little more than an hour but our experience was extremely bad and unpleasant. Just imagine sunlight coming directly upon you in an air-conditioned room. I suppose either they are making too much profit in their bakery business so they are not bothered about the restaurant or they are not serious about anything at all.

I would not suggest anyone to go there along with family or even alone. Please reconsider your decision of going to Chappan Bhog.
