Space, Style, Comfort... Review on Chevrolet UVA

After doing a lot of research on the various models available in this segment, I decided to go for the UVA. I did check out Swift and Getz, also checked out Logan for whatever its worth. Well all cars mentioned have their pros and cons so what made me swing to UVA. Well firstly I was looking for space, since I am quite tall, and leg room is something that is real luxury for me. So the UVA really scored on the that front. ample room for people sitting behind even after I pull back my seat to dirve. Superb riding comfort, smooth steering, solid road grip. This car really makes you feel very secure on the road, (on top of everybody ;-)) also because the road clearance is really great. Handling curves is very smooth. Getting in and out of the car is a breeze... no rolling out type feeling. One can literally walk out of the car and not feel uncomfortable.

The AC is really powerful, cools efortlessly even when the outside temperature is touching 42! Vibration is practically not there, on engine idling one can hardly hear or feel the engine is on! Braking is also very smooth, as is the ride in the cabin when taking on the bumps on the road, makes you feel solid. Yes the boot is hardly there, but if you are not planning too many road trips with bag and baggage this is the ideal city car for a medium sized Indian family. The back is very spacious for three adults to sit pretty comfortably. One could even squeeze a kid. In short this car is luxurious - not because of gadgets, but because of its space and design. After all isn't luxury all about feeling comfortable! Go for it.

Just an update after a road trip, the car has a major issue in the pick-up aspect, very slow on that. Makes quite an effort to overtake vehicles. Otherwise all the above holds true, comfortable, the boot is not THAT small after all, holds a decent size of things for a 4 to 5 day trip. 4 people travelled without back aches. We travelled on ghat roads without a problem, superb steering control on the sharpest hair pin bends, effortless on clims. Again I have to mention the AC, really cooled, some people in the car even wore a thin jacket, no kidding! Outside temp was 36. A real draw back is that one can't see the speedometer in the daytime if one is wearing dark glasses, the speed indicators are very deep and become quite dark with wear dark glasses. Wish they were in white or some background with more contrast.

Mileage in City with AC: 10 to 12 Kmpl. On road with AC: 15 to 16 Kmpl.
