Sparkling Spearhead. Review on Chevrolet Spark

Firstly I want to thank all the mouthshut members in this section whose review have immensely helped me purchase a Chevrolet Spark LS white color with beige interiors.

I will not go into the technical descriptions because there are ample of them available all over the place. Hence let me start firstly by mentioning the fact that the dealer was really helpful in arranging the vehicle and the required colour as well as the finance. It was a rather pleasant change for me to see that the dealer was more prompt and helpful than other maruti dealers and was more expressive about the car. The description and the explanation he provided, were fabulous and were very helpful for me in deciding which car to buy amongst the rather very very common Wagon R, santro, tata Indica & I10. I wanted something which would very big on inside and small outside.

Coming to the car engine-Engine is so silent that I could even hear my wristwatch ticking. The vibrations were not at all there. These vibrations and engine noise were very audible in either santro or Wagon R or Tata Indica or for even that matter I10 (1.1 litre version). I do not wish to offend the diehard Hyundai/Tata/Maruti or other car fans but clearly Spark outperforms them in all departments, other than boot space. The power steering is responsive enough and driving this car is a fun, No matter what. Even the fuel efficiency is a WOW. Although the vehicle is pretty new, just done 2000 kms, still the average as per my calculation the average is around 13 kmpl in actual city driving conditions. Moreover this car has automatic fuel control system wherin the setting is in such a manner that the car give little jerks if we are stranded in traffic. This is to maximize the fuel efficiency.

Ride and Handling- The ride is one of the smoothest due to tubeless tyres and gas filled shockers.The braking is excellent and pin point. Touch the brakes and Car will stop. While going at 80KMPH, u need to chk the speedometer. Else there is no way you will come to know the speed. Moreover the car moves without any jerks @30kmph in 5th gear. The main reason is the torque of the engine which is highest in any car in this segment.

Gearbox- The gearshift is excellent and has the same drive by wire technology that is available in the K series engines of Maruti and the Swift models and higher and is not rubbery like that of Wagon R. They are precise and to the point.

Interiors.-This is something that has improved tremendously and is a big advantage over the previous versions and over the competitors. All beige colours make the interiors look so airy and give a sense of openness as compared to all black or grey interiors as in other cars except I10 and Zen Estilo or even with its predecessor models, which used to give a sense of gloom and despair. Although they need lots of maintenance.

Now coming to the –ves of this car.

They could have made this car a bit more broad and that would have been the ultimate thing. Secondly, the quality of plastics on steering wheel should have been better and the two spoke steering wheel should have been done away with and the steering wheel like that of Chevrolet Beat would have been fitted to give it a more stylish finish. .

Conclusion:- Overall this car is just the right combination for those looking for a very good value for money. For 30k more than an alto, you can get a very good package which includes powerful car with Power windows and more efficiency and more space.

Last but not the least, beauty lies in the eyes of beholder. It is your choice if you want to standout in the crowd or be one amongst them.
