I have been driving the SRV for about a month now. And, its time I told you guys what my observations are.

The interiors are spartan and thats how it should be. Its spacious especially for those who sit behind a tall driver. Everything about the interiors are understated yet elegant. The AC is superb and controls are within easy reach. Once you get over the reverse gear, turning lights and wiper control positions, driving is cool. Its the steering wheel which reeks of a bad finish and the horn is at the centre and one needs to reach out for the horn. Thats bad, especially on Indian roads.

Fuel efficiency is not its strength. City driving averages 7-8 km/litre. Acceleration is superb but braking needs improvement. Maybe, GM might consider rear disk brakes in the base model. Shock absorbers are good but will wait and watch how it fares over a year or so of city driving.

Theres a problem with the VGIS engine. Ride on the 2nd/3rd gear is NOT at all smooth. This is a serious area of concern and GM dealer Works are a helpless lot blaming everything on GM. I will be soon writing to them to convey my concerns.

As with nearly all auto cos excluding Maruti and Hyundai, spares are not cheap.

Buying this car is an emotional decision and is not a practical car for a salaried Indian. Yet the car grows on you and you tend to love it on open roads. The car is the least advertised, least pushed at the showroom and it feels GM maybe hiding a few hard truths somewhere. Its time GM got serious on India.
