Chevrolet Beat is one of the real deals available out there with its dazzling and stunning looks at a very much affordable price. The first thing that I consider about any car is the safety it provides. Take any top end car for that matter, the engineering is concentrated toward how the car should behave in terms of crunch times.
Having driven my beat for over 10000 km, I can proudly say that it is one of the safest cars available. I bought a Chevrolet Beat LTO Petrol Model back in August 2010. The on-road price came to 5.3 lakhs. Yes, mine is fully loaded. Alright lets talk about the Pros and Cons.
Pros:
>> Sexy Look. For a car that is as cheap as this(The LS option is only 4.3 on road!), the looks are simply exemplary and sportive.
>> Dashboard. The dashboard looks more sporty and extremely simple and easy to understand. The light effects on the dashboard looks really stunning at nights.
>> Feedback. The best thing about this car is the feedback you receive on your steering. It feels really great that when you sit on the car, you can transform yourself into the car so that you know exactly what you are doing. Such is the feedback that this car gives to you in the drivers seat.
>> Overall Size. Since this is a hatchback car, it is very easy to maneuver this inside the city and even small townships. It is very crisp and compact
>> Maintenance. It has been almost 15 months and I have not spent a rupee for maintenance for this car.
Cons:
>> Pickup. One would not like the vehicle's pick up in the second gear. But the pick up is good in first and third gears. General motor claims that this was deliberately done to increase the fuel efficiency. So, I can live with that.
>> Trunk door. The trunk door while closing produces a well, cheap sound. It could have been a bit more in line with the normal doors. I don't think this is a big minus, but still could have a bit better.
Neutral:
>> Mileage. The mileage of this car is pretty decent. I am using a petrol variant. I am getting around 12kmpl in City and around 14.5 kmpl in long drive.
Overall, Beat beats a lot of other hatchback variants mainly at looks and price. Well, for Indian markets, those are the major two things one considers.
