When I set out to buy my new car after 8 years I wanted something thats economical, low on maintenance, reliable and comfortable. I decided on buying a new car six months back. But couldn't choose one with ease.I read a lot of reviews from magazines, internet and went to car dealers. Each one had it's merits and drawbacks.I shortlisted on the Aveo 1.4 and Fiesta1.4.Verna and City where also considered. The Verna diesel and City impressed me but was little beyond my budget.Let me tell you how I chose my car.

The Aveo was unbeatable on its looks and interiors. The Fiesta looked a little dark inside and very common on the road. The Aveo had reasonable good space in the rear and Boot.Let me tell you the Chevy dealer responded very well to my call, but the Ford fellow was far from satisfactory.I test drove the Aveo on 12.03.07. The car is remarkably silent inside and AC is good. The gear shift was little difficult as I compared it with my good old Maruti Zen which was just perfect for a beginner. The best feature of Aveo is the slow speed driving which is possible even at the fifth gear.

I could slow down to 20kmph and still move without changing gears. The sales person Mr Ramesh explained to me that Chevy has designed this feature for city driving and economy. This feature gives the car a feel of automatic transmission. This is why it does not accelerate well even when we give full throttle . Barring the gear shift (especially between first & second) I found nothing wrong with the engine. It was giving good power at higher rpm and looked really fizzy on the highway. The driver seat was not the best you could get but my pregnant wife was really comfortable at the rear.I booked the car after the drive.

I am a doctor who lives near my hospital of practice and drives less than 15 km per day, with an odd weekend drive to the city. This car would ideally suit people of my nature and wants things of their own liking than others reviews. My dealer gave me the best deal possible celebrating the anniversary of Aveo launch. They fitted 4 sets of alloys, leather seat covers , keyless entry with alarms, Two extra speakers(Aveo 1.4 standard model has an MP3 player with two speakers), mudflaps and mats for an extra INR 10, 000. I wanted black color but the dealer could not manage it within my limited time and I settled for the Platinum metallic.

I suggest you test drive the vehicle and go for the 1.4 standard. Its economical, reasonably loaded. you can fit the rest of GM accessories from the dealer itself after purchase.I got my car delivered on time and the entire Geeyem crew was there to receive me.The reception was very warm at the showroom and briefing was really good. This is my first hand experience on test drive and delivery.

The gear shift now is OK with me as it takes a little time to get used to it. I cannot commend on the fuel consumption now and let me tell you I am really proud to have owned an Aveo. If you have shortlisted the AVeo go ahead and buy it .Read no more reviews as the machine is really worth the choice.
