AVEO 1.4 LT . Review on Chevrolet Aveo

The Dealer : So far I have had no problem with them. If however, I do have any in future, I shall surely highlight it before the forum. From the first day (1st April 2010), of my visit to the showroom, Mr. M. D. Rixon, Asstt. Sales Manager, attended to my endless queries with a smiling face and with great patience. As a matter of fact, I had visited the show room only once between the first visit and the delivery date of the car. It was Mr. Rixon who always took the trouble of calling on me on several occasions wherever I had requested him to collect cheques, get documents signed etc.

I must admit, I was impressed by his gesture. As I had once mentioned to Mr.Rixon that I hate to drive in Dalhousie Square area of Kolkata during office hours, Mr. Rixon had the showroom opened for me specially at 7.30 am so that I could drive the car out of showroom while the traffic is very thin. I sincerely hope that Mr. Rixon’s counterparts in their service centre are just as efficient and customer friendly.

The Car : All this while, I have been reading your reviews with keen interest and trust me, I decided for AVEO 1.4 LT being influenced by some well detailed reviews. I was, therefore, aware of AVEO’s strength and weakness. I have not so far been able to discover any new strength / weakness. Reflection of dash board panel on the wind shield is indeed very disturbing. The chrome border of ac vents and meters do interfere with the view menacingly. I guess, one would get used to it with the passage of time just as the owners / drivers of SX 4 with the wide interfering pillar on the door glass on the right front door.

The interior is indeed very spacious and friendly towards elderly people in particular. My 80 plus uncle and 75 plus Aunt had no problem in getting in and out of the car. They appreciated the cinema styled seats at the rear. Boot space is ample. I can now shove in my Golf set with all the woods in the bag - a little luxury that I could not afford while using my SWIFT. As matter of fact, boot space could easily accommodate one or two more Golf sets of friends whom I need to pick up for a round of Golf.

Pick up on 1st gear is nothing to write home about. The engine starts waking up from 2nd gear onwards. I am finding the engine a bit noisy and can even hear it even when in the reasonably good music system Presly is singing ‘ Judy ‘ or Los Bravos singing ‘ Black is black ‘. I earnestly hope that something could be done about the noise. Any suggestion friends ? The car is due for the first service / check up on completion of a month or 1000 km whichever is earlier.

I am always self driven and am enjoying the drive. On the exterior, AVEO LT’s ample chrome usage has given the car a gorgeous look. I agree with all those who have rated AVEO is the car for value for money. This loaded car has cost me Rs.680, 367=00 on road. I found no other car in the same segment was available at that price.

The car has so far done 73 km. It would therefore be improper on my part to comment on its performance. I shall continue to update Mouthshut.com forum with my experience with AVEO 1.4 LT.

Come what may, I have decided not to allow disappointment to take control of my mind since I opted for AVEO considering it’s strength and weakness.
