Brought the Sandiff Grey Uva on Feb 2010 after a long research and comparison. Indeed it was a risky buy. But the rest is here for you.
After Driving Maruti 800, Wagon R and i10 for last 15 years a Cheverolet!!!! wondered all. Aprt from the risk factor, (viz Chevy brand) this is the best premium hatch for this price. I have gone through many reviews (I doubt their genuineness now, or may be every product of the same company may behave in different ways!!) I found there are some bad publicity about this car. I have done 2500 kms (75% City with aircon) getting a stable mileage of 14+ in City and 16+ in Highway. The pickup is decent (unbelievable after reading the reviews) that is more or at par with other cars in this segment. The AC is average. The best feature is the space and the ride. After using the Maruti my opinion is, for easiness of ownership, go for Maruti, for care of your family ie; riding comfort go for Chevy!!. But it handles well too. The steering may feel a little bit heavy though
The major problem I faced was the A Piller blinding a peculiar angle which is irritating and you cant see the intrusion from front right. After some time I got used to it.The second major issue is the reflection on front glass. the premium looking new beige interiors the culprit. I solved it somehow, by spending 3200 bugs on a Garware IceKool cooling paper, which reduced the reflection and heat from scorching sun. Unlike a Wagon R the backseat is the best place to be in a UVA.
The looks are wonderful(may be subjective). The beige interiors and biege leather seats make you feel inside a costly big Sedan. But believe me, unlike a common Swift or i10 it is a head turner. You surely get attention and admiration in a function where your Chevy will standout from other common cars. The safety feel is also admirable. It is not another car in which you feel like riding in a cabin of a Amusement park Ride. It also has the best ground clearance a must in our roads.
To sum up It was worth taking the risk.
