I bought my Blazing Red Aveo 1.4LS in May 2006 from National Garage when it had been just newly launched. I love the looks of it compared to any car in its category.

I would say GM has stripped down the car in many ways to get it in the price range of other cars in its segment etc.

I am here only to point out the cons. Maybe someone else can share the goods.

The car is not very smooth. There is alot of engine vibration(atleast the driver feels it)

My car gives a fuel efficiency of 6.5 to 8 km/l in city. I met others who said they get 10. When you go to the service center they will say 8 is normal. Fortunately if you get a sensible person who is looking after your case at the service center, you could get lucky to be heard.

Very thin metal body. I can cause a dent with my thumb. This is something people generally dont even realise. I got to learn after seeing small dents here without scratches. So in case of accident you can expect your exterior to react like paper(experienced). The framework might be good to keep the passengers safe. But I cant comment on that. The bumber is so soft that you can press it with your thumb and it will go in. I had an experience where my car was standing and another car at the speed of hardly 2 - 3 km kissed my car from the rear left side. The bumper was totally squashed as if a major accident.

When I went for a preregistration checkup I noticed some marks on the car paint on the roof top and some places on the bonnet. I informed them about the same. I was told that it happens because the car if kept in the godown in the open and it will go away in buffing & polishing and its not a matter of worry. They polished and buffed it in they were almost invisible. After a year they have come up as rust all over the car. This was the most depressing thing. I went to the dealer. They said they would talk to the GM guy. The GM guy refused saying its due to bird droppings and they will not do anything about it. Thanks to the help of a personnel out there I got the number of a senior GM executive who without seeing the car promised to get it done. Infact when I met him, he showed me that there is a 2 year warranty for paint problems like rusting. It feels good that someone if willing to take responsibility. I give the car for painting. almost 6 parts of the car body are entirely repainted. I get the car after 20 days, Just because the person handling my case is irresponsible. When I went to pickup my car. there were more bubble marks in the paint than the rust marks. There were underpaint scratches. The guy tried to convince me that even if I get it repainted this is going to happen. Untill I spoke to the Owner of the garage who shouted at them and asked them to redo it. So here I am without a car for more than 25 days and still a week to go for the car to be ready again. Lets see what happens.

Anyways my advice for anyone would be to wait and not go for the brand new launched models and wait for few months. There are alot of rectifications that they do later on. The new lot is always RND.

Hope this helps someone
