Autorickshaws in chennai-no no no . Review on Chennai

I would like to share some of my experiences that I had with autorickshaw drivers in chennai..........believe me it was an awful experience. But I just dont blame chennai as a city for it it happens in most of the metro cities...but I got to experience this in Chennai.

Even though I could speak good tamil.....I was quoted high prices by the auto drivers so I could imagine the condition of the foreign travellers and people who dont know tamil....I am sure they will be duped royally.

The minimum amount that comes to themouth of a rickshaw driver is 50 rupees no matter what the distance is....you try to argue with them you will be in a bad state...and their explanation of their wrong doings are really funny.They have valid explanations.......they talk about petrol prices and cops....so dont these people know that the petrol prices are similar in other cities...dont auto drivers manage to live there ? dont they lead a decent life.

My one day stay in chennai was pathetic I had to take rickshaws for atleast 5 times and I couldnt find one auto driver asking for a valid price.

The worst part is the public to support this move....the lodge that I stayed even the lodge guys asked me to give so much in fact they quoted a price higher than the drivers.....I couldnt believe it....every auto has a meter but y dont they put the meter....and the crowd of autos in prepaid counter of the railway station is also very less...coz most of the drivers are on a looting spree around the city.

One auto driver almost scared me by telling about the incidents where tourist had to pay around 1500 rupees just for auto...and he tried to justify that he is a very good person by asking less.

I know nothing can be done in our country about it....I dont blame the government for everything there is something that we as a public should do.....to teach the auto driversa lesson......I dont get money for free......I have to slog the whole month to get a decent salary why should I feed it to these guys......because of these bad elements I might think twice to visit chennai..by me not visiting chennai its not going to bring any changes in the chennai city but ....the reputation of chennai is lost....

i would definitely recommend anyone going to chennai to to take their own transport I think the taxies are more affordable than cities but never take an autorickshaw belive me you will have a terrible experience

I would definitely appeal to the people living in chennai to do something about it......
