About an year back, I engaged the services of Chennai Packers and Movers for transporting my household goods from Chennai to Delhi. The chaps made tall promises about delivery time and quality.
They turned up sharp at the appointed time with sufficient hardware. The packing was done quite satisfactorily. But, surprisingly, their so-called executive did not turn up for completing paper formalities late in the day. So, the packers' leader took my assistance and completed the formalities. Another gentleman arrived and picked up my car after completing the formalities.
Now, the story unfolds at the Delhi end. The goods did not arrive by the promised delivery date. They do not even have any infrastructure at Delhi from where I could get authentic information. After a delay of about 4-5 days, the materials were delivered. However, the wet grinder was delivered without the central stone. I made a remark on their paper. The person-in-charge assured me that it would be traced and delivered. After this, I would have made at least 10 calls to their Chennai office. The silly chaps just do not have the courtesy to call back, leave alone complete the service with full delivery. Several months later, I was informed that the stone had arrived. I insisted that it should be delivered at my address. The chap went on promising that he would club the delivery with other consignments and deliver at the earliest. I wonder why there was no delivery at all for over three months! Finally, I was forced to collect the stone all the way from their godown at Gurgaon. He just doesn't bother about Chennai Packers, because he is just an intermediary.
Apart from this, my car was delivered again after a delay of about a week. However, can you guess how many km it had run? As per their rep., the road run would be from Pallavaram to Poonamalee and from Gurgaon to my residence, totaling about 75 km. The actual figure was about 750 km! Literally, the chaps had treated my car as their personal car! They could not justify the extraordinary extra mileage. Apart from this, I could see lot of beach sand inside the vehicle and the backside rubber mat was torn and replaced.
To sum up, never ever go to Chennai Packers.
