ChathuraGiri Hill is not a ordinary hill, it is a mysterious and very spiritual place where saints and siddhars can be seen today also doing poojas to the lord shiva there during night. I had a visit to that place at 2007 and I would like to share my travel experience with you people.

On Dec 8th 2007 left in Rameswaram Express at 6.00 pm from Chennai Egmore. Reached Madurai on Dec 9th on a New moon day, early morning 2.30 am.

First we were looking for college hostel but no rooms were vacant then we stayed in a hotel near the Madurai meenakshi temple

Refreshed in the room and started our spiritual trip to ChathuraGiri at 3.30 am. Picked an auto to the Mattuthavani bus stop, where we will get bus to Watrap.

But unfortunately the next bus to Watrap was at 6.00 am only, so we get in to a bus which goes till Krishnan kovil stop. From Krishnan kovil we traveled in another bus to Watrap and again from

Watrap to Thaniparai another bus. Thaniparai is the Base of the hill from where we have to climb the hill. We started to climb at 7.30 am. At the start the path will be like flat surface and easy to climb, but later we have to climb full of rocks and stones in the hill. There is a place called Vazhuku parai where it will be very slippery and we have to be very careful there. Another Place called Sangali parai where we need to climb a rock with the support of a huge chain, which is also very risky to climb.

I’m happy to share my experience with others so that they will get some useful info’s from this before leaving for the trip.

Thanks

Swetha
