Again worthy fellow-members I find myself in the corrector's seat...
when tasting wine professionally the LEGS (or church windows as they are also called)are NEVER never commented upon...they are not a sign of anything...wash your glass with a different amount (or type) of soap solution and the results will be different..the only time it is justifiable and useful to comment on legs is when a pair of em crosses you in a short skirt!
a wine can never be green or yellow or brown..it merely takes a subtle hue along the edges at first and then gradually a tint all over...this can be due to evolution (aging in the bottle) or oak aging.
to smell a wine we dont use a half filled glass..that way we will spill way more than we will smell! we use a measure of about 47 ml and that too in an INAO (Institut Nationale d'Appelation d'Origine) glass which is the universally accepted glass for tastings...if you can afford it, you might replace it with a dandy ''Riedel'' or an ''Impitoyable''.
there are two nosings with and without a swirl...
and finally the tasting is to merely confirm what one found in the olfactory stage...of course you can judge the other tactile sensations better if you are not too confident with nosing simply...
in the Indian wine range the Sula white (and brut) and the Grovers red are the ONLY wines to be brought up in any discussion!!! Chateau Indage should only be discussed if its not your own party/gathering..and then too refrain from using any highly flown words of encouragement or approval...
while they had a good success with Omar Khayyam (a demi sec version of their brut Marquise de pompadour) thats exactly where it ends...since then they have shown amazing consistency at producing horsepiss after horsepiss through the years without any idea of viticulture or vinification!
the sula white has found a market in europe already and is one of the best exploitation of the sauvignon blanc this side of the globe...the grovers red with its sound technical guide Michel Rolland....need I say more! he Is one of the most easily recognizable faces in the french wine making industry...
i do realise that everyone has a right to choose what they like but I am sure nobody eats or drinks dogpuke...
at the best I could give the chantilly a 2/10 but beyond that we are tilting the scales...
