Lets see what we have here. I dont know if this is the forum to be discussing this, but the imp thing is to get the point across. Over the last few days now, the one topic that every single person has wanted to opine on is whether the ban of channels screening adult material is justified. Well, certainly the advocate of this ridiculous belief believes it is, and I thought making my mind public on this issue wouldn't be such a bad idea at all!!!
So, no more adult stuff........correction, no more stuff that one stupid individual considers adult will be aired. Of course, Mrs. Pratibha Naithani, there are two things that you have proved by voicing your strong opinion on behalf of 100+crore Indians. (although flagged off in Mumbai, this ban will almost in all probability, be imposed in the rest of the country very soon). No.1, you are a failed parent. You have failed in your very responsibility to control what your kids watch and do.
That's not the sad part however; what is, is that you've made your handicap public. There's nothing worse a moron can be expected to do. You have been the first to do so, and you certainly deserve a pat on the back!
Second, and what really makes me empathize with you is the fact that you are trying to justify what you have done. You being a professor of communication, are not expected to know any statistics. But i'll give u a very simple example at this point. Have u ever come across a forecast made on the basis of an infinitesimal small sample? Ever seen anyone act on such a crude forecast? An affirmative answer to that is a gross violation of the very foundations of statistics. I hope u get my point. (can only hope, for you intelligence has been proved to all of us by your cowardly act)
Let's say that tomorrow your kids engage in a not so socially rite act, for instance kissing in public. You are furious, and you want kissing to be eliminated from this planet. Will the high court, acting on your order, ban that? will the police keep scouting the corners of Mumbai in search for people who have kissed, or are abt to kiss? No, they wont do that.
I am not surprised that your kids haven't been complaining about the constant barrage of mindless serials that are bombarding television. You probably dont want them to watch such mind numbing serials. But would I, as an individual, who has a problem with these serials think of lodging a complaint with the high court? I wud b the biggest idiot if I were to do so. I do consider these serials serious hazards to the psyche of women and men (adults for u!!). So what alternative do I have to ensure that I and my family are not subject to this epitome of torture? Ban the channel? Who gives me the fg right to deprive others of what I perceive is shit? No one does.
Since you stay in Mumbai I am sure you very well know that banning so called adult channels will not prevent your kids from watching such material; on the other hand, they will find novel ways to circumvent around this problem and fool you even more. Since you are so easily fooled, why not just flow with the tide? There is, of course the net, which I believe u cant ban (pls dont think of doing this...its an honest advice...it just cant happen).
I thought somebody was thinking of approving sex education in schools in order to combat the growing penetration of AIDS in our country. Well, as long as people like you exist, we will be successful, and very shortly at that, in uprooting africa from the envious position of being a leader in this category. I would personally recommend (if I have the power in the future) a nobel prize for u in case u contribute to this cause.
People like you are leading the fight in taking this country to the dogs. On the one side you have people from India who have earned a name for the country overseas (I am indeed proud of them and my country for being home to such stalwarts), while on the other you have idiots like yourself desperately trying to impose a dictatorial rule!!!
In summary, I thank you for making a mockery of democracy.
