Need of the hour- movies with a social theme!!

Beautiful locations, beautiful protagonists, beautifully children and everything is so beautiful around.

Hey guys, relax Iam not talking about Yash Chopra or a Karan Johar movie yaar, but this is the state of the Indian movies that release in the theatres. Let us first of all begin with the various classes of directors and their style of making movies:

Yash Chopra

Well he is the wily old fox who in the Indian film industry and he has made some amazing movies without a second though to it. But how I wish he makes more realistic movies with a social aspect to it in the genre of films such as ?Rudaali?, ?Daman? etc...

The reason Iam saying this is the because of the very fact that he has made movies with similar themes and we all know the box office appeal of his movies and I sincerely feel that he needs to make one rather than making movies such as Veer Zaara and yeah I do respect the movie and the efforts he has put in making the movie a success.

Karan Johar

Well this man has directed 2 movies and both the movies have been block busters and his movies speak values about the respect which he pays to love, family and to relationships and I surely appreciate him for that and I just hope that probably next summer when he releases his next movie he is changing his style of the way he makes a movie.

Farhan Akhtar

Here we have someone who really makes movies of class and of substance and no Iam never undermining the efforts put by the rest but the way he has made the movie ? Lakhshya is worth a praise and I cannot remember the last time I was so much impressed and came out of the theatre convinced. His movies have a lot of appeal and when one sees a movie directed by him, the viewer must relate it to his/her own life and that is something which neither Yash nor Karan johar?s movie do which is rather sad considering the fact that they do not have much flops to their credit (infact Karan is yet to have a flop to his name).

Mani Rathnam

Mann, this guy is someone who is a sure shot trendsetter. I have been a big fan of his movies and he comes up with a variety of movies such as Roja, Anjali, Bombay, Kannathil Muttham (Tamil movie), Yuva, and Dil Se.Though he would have been denied commercial successes in his latest movies but there is no denying the fact that he is someone who never fails to experiment and his movies have the rawness in them and he always comes up with some or other social theme which is noteworthy.

Ashutosh Gowariker

Well, the first movie of his which I saw was Baazi which starred Aamir and Mamta kulkarni and I don?t know the box office result of that movie but I liked the movie and the next movie which I saw was Lagaanand we all know where that movie took him!! And now he is coming up with a movie called as Swades which again is based on a social theme and this is what one needs to do now.

Shankar

Again a South Indian filmmaker who made it big even in the North by making movies such as Nayak, Hindustani and makes movies which are completely out of the box and nothing in his movie is predictable which is what the audience wants when they come to see a movie.

RGV

The man who made Rangeela and I do have a high regard for him but of late even he is getting monotonous and he needs to sit down and analyze as to where is he going wrong because after Bhoot released last year he is yet to have a hit which is not good.

Well there are many directors, whom I have missed such as Prakash Jha, John Mathew Mathan, and many more and now a big question that arises in the mind of the reader is:

what do I want to convey through this review?

Well, first of all just for a few moments let us leave the upper middle class and the executive class who go for movies just for time pass and let us just concentrate on the lower and poor class who come to watch your movie.

Do we know how much time they wait to get a ticket and then see their stars performing in foreign locales and making films that are not at all possible and showing the best part of the country and this is something which needs a thorough revamping.

If we see the foreign movies they show the movies with a different perspective altogether. Have we noticed movies such as ?Saving the private Ryan?, ?Forest Gump?, and many movies that touch us?

Why go far, lets take our own movies such as ?Rudaali?, ?Saathiya?, ?Daman?, movies that are so real and one can directly relate to it and I for one feel that each and every director make movies that have a social theme which is very important at this stage where there is so much corruption and violence all around rather than showing everything beautiful in the movies and having no reality behind what is happening behind!

And one more thing I have completely failed to understand as to why a film needs to have a terrific looking guy and scantly clad girl (heroine) in the movie? Have our directors forgotten the Amol Palekars, Sanjeev Kumars who used to give a power packed performances even though they were so ordinary looking.

It?s high time that we have influx of cinema with a social theme coming up in a bigger way than just a few handful ones made every year.

Mr. Karan Johars and Mr.Yash Chopras are you listening?
