I am currently in 3rd year in my Computer Science Engineering, and I am doing it from Chandigarh University. I will review this in form of some questions, which generally arises in parent's and students mind. So we will cover it.
Placements :
In terms of placements, Chandigarh University is quite impressive, the placements of CSE are far much better than any other engineering branches. Our senior batch has bagged various placements in renowned MNC's. On the status released by University, it was found that 84% of students was placed in various companies at various profiles. The highest package was offered was 26Lacs which was offered by Direct I. However, no one could crack it, but the decent average package was found to be 3.5L for most of the students. There were various roles that included Developer Profiles, Business Associate, Marketing and much more. Our college doesn't offer any internship, but students bagged it from renowned portal Internshala and got a handsome stipend and work experience.
Infrastructure :
The infrastructure is no doubt very good, It is far much better than many colleges/universities. The wi-fi support is there for hostellers as well as day scholars in the campus itself. And to facilitate with online education Labs are equipped high-class computer systems with Internet connectivity. The architecture of Library is also good, It has posters of some famous personalities with their words of wisdom which helps in motivating the students. Medical facilities are average, the ambulance service in and off-campus hours is very good, but the doctors doesn't seem to be qualified. They just have the basic knowledge of medications. Sports and Games are highly encouraged in CU, as they are necessary to live a better and a healthy lifestyle. University organizes various sports tournaments like Inter-Department Sports competitions etc, which helps the individual to develop interpersonal skills and Leadership qualities. The quality of Labs and Classrooms are good, as Labs are having Air-Conditioners installed but in the classrooms, there are no air-conditioners. The quality of food supplied in the canteen is very good, and the quality and hygiene is also maintained. The rooms of the hostel are equipped with Air-Coolers, and it has the capacity of 4 students. The room is quite big and it is very easy to adjust with 4 students as single beds are provided. I have been studying in the university for 2 years and until today I didn't have any kind of problem with the infrastructure.
Faculty : The faculty members are very well qualified and they are too down to earth. Most of them are Ph.D. holders while others are Post-Graduated. They impart us with a lot of knowledge for the subject and also out of the box related to that subject. They also tell us how the work is done in the Companies and what key skills are at high pace nowadays which will help us to get a good job. They use a soft board and a few times the projector. They use projectors when they have to give us the practical knowledge, we can see it in front of our eyes, the task is being performed and that's quite helpful. The student to faculty ratio is also good which is 16: 1. Our University also organizes industry visits to various companies related to the student's branch which in turns helps the student to see the clear image of how work is done.
Other Details :
The overall experience of my 2 years is very good and hopefully, the rest 2 years will be good too. Not only the faculty members are down to earth, even the guards, the administration is too frank with students. There is a Department of Student Welfare in our university which helps the students to put their concern to the higher authorities and get a good feedback or outcome. Everybody is so helpful, and do the best for students.
