When this movie had released some years ago Kareena was a young girl in bollywood. I saw this movie last night on star gold. and I was immensely impressed by Kareena it was amazing for this young talented girl to act in a movie like Chameli at a young age.
Its a Story of a young hooker called Chameli (Kareena)who works on the Bombay streets. One rainy night an Investment Bankers (rahul Bose) car gets stuck near her pavement. then starts the chain of events.Initially they both dislike each other but gradually The White Collar guy finds out the real person inside the pr*stitute.
there are some interesting Characters Chameli's eunuch friend Haseena whom she helps to elope with a young guy. Chameli's rascal Pimp Usman with whom she has a love hate relationship
Chameli is forced to spend the night with a gangster and ex corporater by her pimp but chameli resists it because the Gangster is infected by deadly disease. Rahul Bose steps in to rescue her but himself gets detained by police in the night.
Rahul Bose calls up his connections to not only rescue Chameli but also his Pimp who could face death.
The movie concludes with Rahul Bose falling in Love with Chameli and a happy ending.
Sudhir misra has made a good movie some scenes esp how the Bombay night streets and Police behavior on streets in very authentic.Rahul Bose is a decent actor and does his job to perfection.Rajpal Yadav shines in the cameo as Police officer but I save all my superlatives for Kareena Kapoor. I regret having not seen this movie at that time but never the less Kareena excels in the role of a hooker. She speaks the Bombay Street Lingo to perfection and amazingly also adapts to the ways of a street hooker. 10/10 for her
