Aaya India!!. Review on Chak De India

Could anyone have imagined that Shahrukh Khan would play a role without a lead actress and songs? I'm guessing most people could not imagined something like that happening, well it did happen and guess what, it happened in a Yash Raj Film.

Chak De India is a film which promotes our national sport Hockey. It's not like other films which focus on other aspects like racism(Goal) and forgets its meant to be a sport film. Yes, Chak De goes into the'religion' area, but thats because its interlinked with the story.

The Indian captain, Kabir Khan steps up to take the penalty. If he scores, India will equalise and the game will go into extra-time. But he misses, and like a true sportman, he goes to shake hands with the Pakistani captain, an Indian photographer sees this, and takes a photo. Now the GREAT Indian Media accuse Kabir of match fixing and is made the scapegoat for many reasons largely relating to his religion. Now, we all know the Indian media is very powerful, and if they portray something, the public will follow it. He has to leave his house because he is seen as a traitor.

He returns 7 years later to coach a bunch of misfits who make up the Indian National Women's hockey team. They are more interested in playing for themselves and for their states. Kabir eventually gets the team to bond, and the team go to Aussieland to win the Women's World Championship. Kabir finally erases the memory of 7 years ago, and now again he becomes a hero.

The Music of the film is good. The title song as we all know has been a rage and is a great song. Badal Pe Aaon Se is also good and is picturised well. Shimit Amin does a great job as director, everything about the film is very convincing. He does an awesome job of showing the interaction between the girls and Shahrukh and between the girls themselves.

The film belongs to Shahrukh Khan, who turns in one of his finest performances. Shahrukh shows us everything, anger to emotion to joy. The girls are first-rate. Its hard to pick out who's the best, but the 2 standout performances are Sagarika Ghatge and the girl who played Komal.

On the whole, one of the finest films ever made. Shimit Amin, Jaideep Sahni, Shahrukh Khan, The Chopras and of course the girls should be applauded.
