Chaitanya is a restaurant which comes in the category of the now used term malwani cuisine.
It is en route to Siddhivinayak temple or Portuguese church in the direction you are going.
Opposite to Chaitanya is Sahakari Bhandar.
Chaitanya is two shops away from Purepur Kolhapur , another popular eatery.
Ambience : The place is conventional and is air conditioned.
The tables and chairs are conventionally designed and are ergonomic.
There is a feeling of a lack of space at times but this is subjective.
If its going to be a family outing of 6 or more then you might have to wait for your turn.
Food : The food is coastal cuisine and is a combination of seafood and chicken.
The food gets segregated as Thali and / or single dishes.
Their main forte or their mascot is Crab Lollipop which is a delectable item which can make you salivate , just by taking the name. The actual starter doesnt disappoint either.
I loved their sol kadhi and I would rate it 10/10 for its sheer authenticity and taste.
Their chicken masala is superb and their zavala koshimbir ( dried fish + onion+ chilly powder) is a treat to have.
Ably supported by their ghavane, amboli, bhakri, chapati and rice.
Cost :
They are reasonable and I mean it.
Average cost is at INR 160 and can easily suffice two ( warning : subject to consumption patterns)
Quantity offered is too good especially when I know what Highway Gomantak offers for the same cost.
People:
They are not the best in the industry but they are the most modest ones you get to meet.
Affable, amiable and to the point.
