After my experience with Euro Movers and Packers (read my review), I had to settle with Central Cargo Packers and Movers in a hurry for an exorbitant fee.


As with Euro, I had requested for and was promised a 20 ft container and a 8-man loading team. At 10 am but 3-man team came in at 12 pm and another 2 men came in at 6 pm when they realised they would not get the job done and my constant howlings. They came in with cartons that are half the standard size that I had seen elsewhere (so when they give you a quote, please make sure that you do not agree to the number of cartons that they normally put in - tell them that it is their problem). And then the moment arrived - I got a 18ft container instead of the 20 ft promised. They promised that they will fit all the goods in it. Obviously that is not a good idea. I was told that they could not arrange for the 20 ft container and they would arrange for another vehicle if required. At the time, Since it was late (that is the reason they come late), I had to agree. The goods did not fit and they had to arrange another vehicle. The packing was done at 1am!.


The goods arrived in Bangalore a day late with a 3-man unloading team which came late at 12 pm even though the vehicle was in their godown the previous night. When the unloading was done, some of the furniture was damaged due to the way it was crammed in. They promised to send some over to fix it. I have been after them (some of the most discourteous people) for 4 weeks and have had no success. I am planning to go to the Consumer Redressal Forum.


Learnings:




  • Ask for a firm quote and do not agree to any limits on cartons etc




  • If you have lots of furniture (say a 3 BHK), ask them to come early with the required team and send them back if they do not meet the time or manpower commitments (you may have to keep a spare day). Otherwise be prepared to go through the slow ordeal for 12-14 hours with them.




  • DO NOT sign the Consignment Note after the unloading if there are damages. Ask them to repair it first and then sign it.




  • DO NOT trust Central Cargo Packers and Movers.
