Cellulite

It is nothing more than ordinary fat(adipose tissue), but the word cellulite is widely used among women which describes the fat that is unevenly distributed under the skin, giving a dimpled and pitted appearance on the hips, thighs and bum. Estrogen, the female hormone, breaks down collagen which when destroyed leads to what is more commonly known as cellulite. I am not about to suggest a revolutionary new cure as to how to get rid of this ever growing concern, because as far as I know there is no cure, but in my opinion the pills and creams only offer temporary help. The same goes for those roller devices which are used by rolling over the skin in order to break up the fibrous nodules of fat and eventually giving the skin a smoother appearance.

There are several reasons as to the cause of cellulite, bad diet being one of them. Toxins are the worst and can found in alcohol, caffeine and fried food. Lack of exercise which could lead to bad blood circulation. If the levels of hormones, progesterone and estrogen, change significantly this will in turn alter the amount of fat that the body stores or releases. Estrogen for example weakens the walls(septae) of the fat chambers which makes it harder for the chamber to hold on to the fat thus allowing it to move upwards to just below the skin giving the orange peel look. Fat is soft tissue and so does not keep the skin taught like muscle does. This is one reason as to why most men do not get cellulite, a greater muscle mass helps limit the number of fat chambers(fat lobules) but also the male lobules are formed differently.

My interest in body health goes way on back to when I was eleven, this was when I found my first ever'Guru', in a magazine and he was Charles Atlas, you must of heard of him. He was the puny guy that got sand kicked in his face, who ended up being Mr Universe. I had to be like him, I had to have everything that was to do with health and fitness. Gymnastics, Rugby, Weightlifting and any other sport I could get involved in was my way of life.

It is about 90% of females that suffer from cellulite, although some men do suffer as well. You will also notice that the more slender a woman is then the less obvious cellulite will be, the more heavier you become, then the more those fibrous tissue pockets will fill up. It also gets more visible the older they get, for every ten years of life a woman will loose about 5-10 pounds(2.5- 5.0kg) of muscle and will gain approximately 15-25 pounds(7.5-12.5kg) of fat. You can prevent or even reduce cellulite in a number of different ways, though combining all these methods would give a faster and better result. Diet is one of the main areas to address, reduce the intake of fried food, saturated fats and sugar. Carbohydrate intake should also be reduced, water intake will need to be increased to help the body flush away unwanted fat and toxins. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices help to cleanse and detoxify the body. A regular fitness program would go a long way in helping to improve blood circulation, it would help the body rid itself of unused fat supplies and it burns up calories.

In other words the more weight training you do the more the muscle will grow and the more smoother the fat will lie. The more aerobic exercise you do, the more fat you burn up, then the more taught and toned the skin will then look. There are also plenty of skin treatments on the market like exfoliation scrubs, toning and sculpting creams, body oils, massager and liposuction. Thanks go to my wife for helping me understand.
