Hi All,

I just finished the novel "cell", a few days ago. Although I had bought another novel "The bourne ultimatum", but it turned out that I read this one before I read the bourne novel's first 50 pages !! Yeah, this one is a real gripping novel.

The story depicts a scenario when the society is ruined into a mass zombie land with a few survivors ("normies") that could escape the disaster, as either they didnt have a cell or didnt have it near them. From the first day till the last day of the narration the reader is made to wonder what is going to happen the next moment. The author has very vividly portrayed the environment with the very minute details of the gore & disaster that spreads.

The lead characters thoughts and feelings are very effectively shown, also it captures the basic fundamental for survival, search for companions. In the whole novel this is very nicely portrayed. Just when the disaster strikes there is a kind of urge in all the normal people to create small groups (another good observation). These groups do not anytime cross more than 5 or 6, that is also understandable as people get more and more intolerant in larger numbers when there is shortage of safe places/resources, at least when there is immediate danger to life

Another good thing that I appreciate is the observation that the behaviour of the people when such a calamity occurs, that is the lawlessness in the people. People fighting each other to get a keg of beer.

All in all the book is a great gripping novel from the begining to the end. The survival skills used by the characters, the gore, the horror everything constitute for the ultimate immersion of the reader. The reader feels as if he is indeed in the situation mentioned as it is so much graphical to the minutest level.

This novel is similar to the movie "28 days later" in some aspects. Rogue zombies apart the flocking behavior reminds me of the book "prey" by michel crichton. Mix both of them and you get the "cell".

Have a good time reading it !!!
