All Bond fans including me just love the sight of an introduction of a well dressed , all gentlemanly , ready to sweep women off their feet , well groomed dark haired , classy British Agent walking in and speaking in that classy evergreen style , " Bond .... James Bond " !
We all agree that the James Bond franchise has been one movie franchise that has twisted, turned and reinvented itself on so many different occasions .. for better or for worse . My personal best James Bond portrayals have been done by Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.
Daniel Craig .. hmm .. now heres a guy who acted pretty well , the scenes shot were done in a pretty awesome manner , the action sequences were totally mindblowing. Casino Royale was something which could have made the greatest winter blockbuster ... but without the bond stamp.
Bond is not just another action movie figure , his image is the best part of it. It is one of the things which cannot either be steriotyped or compromised with the reason being that his image was just one of the many things which made him popular . There are fans who swear by Bond's looks. I can totally understand Martin Campbell's (director) intentions of adding his touch to the bond franchise but the image of Bond he came up with was extremely unBondlike .
I am not blaming Daniel Craig . I think his performance was magnificent . He played his role very well. But the problem was not with the acting. It was with the director and maybe the make-up artist or costume designer .. or I dont know for sure who . But whatever they came up with in the movie .. was NOT James Bond.
The story was the impeccable Ian Flemming creation and I think Eva Green looked HOT as Vesper Lynd . Judi Dench comes back as M though she looks very old in this one in comparison to what she looked in Die Another Day. Needless to mention again , Daniel Craig played his part very well. He made the action sequences look better with his presence.
I personally feel an actor of the caliber of Hugh Hackman would have played a better James Bond .. though rumour has it that he was offered the role and he turned it down before being offered to Craig.
Overall a must watch .. for everyone .
