Casadella was once the'it' place for all the youngsters. Good location, fairly decent baked goods and delectable pastries. It was thronged by teenagers 24/7.
But that seems like ages ago now. With dozens of cafes and restaurants opening almost every second month is Mira Road; Casadella has lost its popularity and charm. Instead of changing with times and reinventing itself, Casadella seems like it’s frozen in time. There is absolutely no change in the menu or the selection of pastries. The furniture has never been changed. The chairs and tables have been repaired so many times, that they almost look antiques.
Cleanliness and hygiene had never been a priority for them. But youngsters, due to the lack of cafes in Mira Road, mostly ignored it. There are flies and rats almost everywhere. The staff is friendly but they lack knowledge about the select few items, Casadella serves.
In my opinion, it is still not too late for Casadella. They are located at a prime spot, with Royal College just a few blocks away. Renovate, maybe hire a new chef and scrub down the place thoroughly. It’s high time now. Casadella, wake up and smell the coffee!(pun intended)
